I'm talking about the side scrolling adventures...

My all time favorite has to be the capcom D&D games

other classics are Aliens vs. Predator..

another capcom classic... so whats your favorite?

Old Game:
Bionic Commando

Relatively new game:
Tie between Super Metroid and Castelvania: Symphony of the Nights

I still play Contra too, can never get tired of that game. Contra on SNES was pretty cool too.

qbert 03-08-01 08:31 AM

ninja gaiden, smb3, and strider (genesis version)

billarockstar, don't say bigdave's code is wrong. his is for 1 player, your's is for two players. ;)

dvdnaut 03-08-01 12:51 PM

my favorite side scroller is Super Mario Brothers.

Big Dave 03-09-01 08:07 AM

billarockstar, we are both right, how dare you underestimate my Contra knowledge! ;)

Tuan Jim 03-09-01 08:33 AM

Like Jack, I'd say Aliens vs Predator (available in Final Burn emulation), then the Metal Slug series and the Shock Trooper series (though that was more scrolling up most of the time) (neogeo emulation).

Ok, Ok....im sorry Big Dave, i will never doubt your contra knowledge again...so will we be seeing contra:2002 for the game cube or gba? Hmmmmmmmm BD? :)

Big Dave 03-09-01 09:32 AM

I have no clue, since I am only master of the original Contra. :) Of course, seeing as the last couple Contra games have been sub-par, it would not seem likely, but you never know.

NC-36 03-09-01 07:16 PM

CASTLEVANIA: Symphony of the Night for the Playstation, best_damn old school game EVER !

DarthMaul420 03-09-01 08:39 PM

Contra

KrackerBox 03-09-01 11:24 PM

shinobe!

criptik28 03-10-01 04:37 PM

What about jet games, like UN Squadron, Gradius III, Darius Twin, and R-Type?

Fhrx 03-10-01 07:04 PM

Ghosts and Goblins! :p

RJainMJ 03-10-01 07:14 PM

Contra .... wow, I can't believe someone remembers the code!

Big Dave 03-10-01 07:38 PM

Everyone I talk to remembers the code, probably for two reasons.
1. The game is pretty much impossible to solve without the extra men.
2. The code does not always take and must be preformed multiple times.

Trout 03-11-01 08:04 AM

Lifeforce- the game takes place inside of someones body. I always thought that was rather disturbing (and a little gross).

cloud 03-11-01 12:13 PM

1)Contra
2)Castlevania
3)Super Mario Bros.
4)Ghouls And Ghosts
5)Metal Slug

Josh H 03-11-01 12:16 PM

Super Mario Bros (any of them, 3 was the best though)
Castlevania (especailly Symphony of the Night)
Contra
Super Metroid

tons more.

Liquid Death 03-11-01 05:13 PM

Metal Slug (import for PS1)

...I keep looking for Metal Slug X (recently reviewed in the new EGM), but so far, I've been unsuccessful (might not be out yet tho ;)

SlashinWolf 03-11-01 05:51 PM

Contra all the way.

KoalSlaw 03-11-01 06:21 PM

Super Mario 2 - That game was just so damned weird. Go back and play it now. I really think Miyamuto was on crack when he thought up that one.
