A 32-bit processor, larger cartridge space, backwards-compatible with GB and GBC games, 16:9 screen ratio, much better quality than the SNES..!

June 11, baby.

I'm all over it. not only is it essentially a portable snes, you forgot to mention that 4 players can play off one game, and the compatibility between it and Gamecube. Very cool.

Wow.. those are some awesome screen shots. The graphics look amazing.

When does this hit and what will the price be?
Also, any idea on the price range for the games?

kvrdave 03-02-01 11:15 AM

I could not be more psyched. I would love it if they remade Chrono Trigger for it.

Titmouse 03-02-01 11:19 AM

I'm also looking forward to picking up one of these. Can't wait! :D

Breakfast with Girls 03-02-01 12:14 PM

MSRP will be $99. It's slated to come out on June 11.

Here's a pic of the system:

http://pocketmedia.ign.com/media/new...s/mkplayer.jpg

It uses 2 AA batteries and has a battery life roughly equivalent to the GBC.

$90?
damn.. that is pretty cheap. And its not as big looking as I thought it might be.

I may well be picking up one of these. I had a gameboy when it originally came out and spent lots of time as a kid playing while in the car, etc.

Music

Here are some MP3s of what the GBA is capable of. Both are a few megabytes.

<a href="http://pocketmedia.ign.com/media/news/audio/gba_audio/chris_gba.mp3">1</a> | <a href="http://pocketmedia.ign.com/media/news/audio/gba_audio/rudi_gba.mp3">2</a>

I don't think I'm going out much on a limb by saying that this will be the next mega-system.

Another RPG I'm looking forward to:

Fire Emblem: Maiden of the Dark

It's going to be a kick ass system. Great graphics for a portbable, snes updates, and it will have loads of developers just like the Gameboy now. :)

darkside 03-02-01 04:31 PM

I have heard the system may be as cheap as $79.99, but even if its $89.99 its still a good deal. I just hope there are trade in deals like when the Game Boy Color came out. I practicaly got two of them for free by trading in my old clunky Game Boys and a few crappy games. The multiplayer off of one cartridge thing is already being shot down by developers though. They say its too tough to do with the limited ram for many games and its doubtful many games will end up using the option.

Danimal 03-02-01 06:08 PM

I'm so psyched, I'd preorder one right now if i could, just to make sure I got one, I love my gameboy, and hope they keep remaking some of the older games on the new Gameboy Advance. Mario Advance, here i come!

MWoody 03-04-01 05:13 PM

Whoah, the backwards-compatibility and 4-player w/one cart is new to me. Dammit, now I'm salivating; you people owe me a napkin. ;)

cloud 03-04-01 05:59 PM

I'm going to pre-order it as soon as it's available for pre-order. Hopefully I will get to see it and the games at E3 in May.:)

DrJag 03-04-01 06:14 PM

wow - looks really good - i have to have one for when i travel - looks like it's going to kill the GBC

Michael T Hudson 03-05-01 12:42 PM

I think I will pick one up. :) Fun for trips.

CreatureX 03-06-01 04:08 PM

Over at PlanetN200 they posted the new Japanese commercials for GBA Mario, F-Zero and Kuru Kuru Kururin. The commercials feature some nice gameplay footage! I also dig the song in the background! :D

Just watched this on a local cable station. It is a daily japanese news program that comes on twice a day here locally. It is called "News Ecpress FCI". It looked pretty impressive.
