Hi All,
I'm looking for a multiplayer game for an older system (talking original Pentium here). Starcraft and AOE II run fine but need something a bit simpler. Any ideas? Doesn't need to be rts necessarily - just something that's fun to play and would be good for a person just getting into computer games... Thanks in advance for replies

Heroes of Might and magic II should run fine. It takes a bit longer to play multiplayer, but it's still a lot of fun.

Try Dark Colony.
It's a simpler version of StarCraft, but with fantastic graphics and gameplay. You should be able to find it cheap at a used software/bookstore, or keep your eyes open at CompUSA closeout bins.
System Requirements are pentium 90 w/16mb RAM

Try the demo here: http://www.gamespot.com/promos/demoa...lo/dcsmall.exe

You guys are good. I was gonna recommend Heroes of Might and Magic 2. Fun game, but multiplayer is a little harsh (twiddling thumbs while waiting for your opponents turn to end). I still love Warcraft 2. Game is still great. Thats what I would be playing online.

Thanks for the suggestions - in fact my friend already picked up the warcraft battlechest... (she's new and trying to pick up computer gaming). So far we've gotten her AOE II: Collector's Edition, Starcraft Battlechest, Warcraft Battlechest and Age of Wonders...(though she says Age of Wonders drags a lot....) While I love turn-based strategy games (multiplayer in person) I find it very hard to sit through a multiplayer online game...
I already have most of the titles mentioned myself though Dark Colony is a new one to me - will have to look it up... Keep 'em coming...

Worms Armageddon is a great game for your system. Turn based so you can play on a 56k connection no problem, but the turns are short so no waiting forever while your opponent contemplates world hunger during their turn.
