I get EGM for free, so I read it.
Some of the reviews are hilarious though. A much better magazine than it used to be.
But overall I prefer Gamer's Republic - excellent presentation, beautifully printed on nice paper, covers both domestic and import games, anime, toys, and other goodies, and the editors know their stuff. I've been reading these guys' work since they (some of them) were Diehard Gamefan, so I pretty much trust their judgement. Excellent rag.

I'm a NextGen fan, too. Great layout; reviews I agree with; snappy writing. It lacks the "cluttered" or over-commercialized feel of other mags I've read, and I get about 6 of 'em (at last count - damn free subscription offers...
).
Come to think of it, I haven't gotten one in a while. I hope my subscription didn't run out. I'm so accustomed to throwing out mail requesting I buy magazines that I may have tossed the notices. @#$%@#$%.

It would have to be a tie between Next Generation and Gamers Republic.
Although having said that I spend more time on online gaming sites then reading game magazines as they are more up to date.

I personally think they all suck
To me, they are all based on lame hype for
drooling fanboys...a reflection of the state
of the VG industry, sure, but that doesn't mean
I have to like it.
To this mentality, only the next big thing
is interesting. Once a game is actually released
it's time to move on to the next hypefest.
Gameplay? Who gives a **** about gameplay?!
Feed us hype! What?! That game came out
last year!? LAME! Only the next big thing is cool.
Personally, I just like fun games, which includes
new games as well as old. Hell, Kaboom for
Atari 2600 can still rock my world!
There isn't a magazine for a gamer like me...
or if there is I haven't found it.

If you own a PSX or PSX2 the best magazine is PSM. Not only is the magazine very well done, but it is dirt cheap. I think its $10 for a full year (12 issues), they don't get much cheaper than that. Unless of course you get it for free.

I have a subscription to PC Gamer and to NextGen.
Strangely enough I have been getting the PC gamer for about 4 years.
I subscribed for a year 4 years ago. Got a note saying the magazine was no longer being published and have been getting an issue each month ever since.
Strange, but I am not gonna complain.
I also like the official Dreamcast magazine and Playstation one.

EGM. Never got into NextGen because of the PC coverage. It's just wasted pages for me since I don't give a crap about pc games. EGM has good previes, and the reviews, are unbiased, short, and to the point.
