I was thinking how in the next few years many people will be switching over to televisions with 16X9 aspect ratios and was wondering how that would effect console gaming. First of all it seems like the days of 2 player head to head with horizontal split screen will probably end (or at least become more limited) leaving us little choice but to go with the vertical split screen. After all, with the sets becoming shorter and wider the horizontal split screen might look quite odd. That's not so much of a big deal to me as it would make better use of the screen with a vertical split. But what concerns me is 4 player split screens. How will those games look? Guess everyone will have to get used to having a rectangle as their screen as opposed to a square (well almost). What other changes/improvements/disadvantages do you see with the coming of HDTV and 16/9 sets.

Some games already have anamorphic enhancment. I know Golden Eye for N64 does and Toy Commander for the Dreamcast. Both are 16x9 enhanced because they were made in the UK. Anyone know of any other 16x9 games?
