When given the choice, do you usually select performance mode (higher framerate but lower graphical settings) or resolution mode (higher graphical settings but lower framerate)?

4th to vote, but first to comment.
I'm in the camp that I'll take game play over graphics... and I have never really had a problem with this when playing. I'm not a PC gamer, so it's only a console thing.

I was a quality mode guy until upgrading to my current display (77” G4), and I think Ghost of Yotei was the first game where I tried giving both a fair shot and just absolutely could not do less than 60 fps.

I go for graphics as well. I am so used to 30fps that the lack of 60fps seldom bothers me (although I can definitely perceive the difference).

Usually performance because it tends to be more stable. I don’t mind 30fps at all, but if it dips into the mid 20s or worse, it’s distracting.
However, with VRR being far more common, even dips in Performance mode is less of an issue.
On PC, I aim for 120fps when possible

Anyone who chooses graphics over performance is a bad person.

100% smooth fps, it's the absolute best thing about this gen.

As a mostly console and specifically Nintendo player playing on the living room TV I don't have a lot of choice in the matter
But for Metroid Prime 4 I chose 4K 60 fps. Which was perfectly fine. I didn't know any different. The frame rate didn't dip at all and 60 fps was plenty fast for a single player adventure shooter.
But in some ways I'm purposely forcing myself to have low expectations because I can easily see myself becoming a performance snob.
