Do you have a comfort game?

One that just sticks with you and comforts you when you need it. Something mindless and fun. I would say for me the new Wolfensteins and the new Dooms. Something you always know the controls to. Something that you go out of your way to play when you’re also playing a newer game on same or different consoles.

Re: Do you have a comfort game?

When my closest friend ended things a few years ago I purposefully retreated for a few months to WWE Supercard which is a mobile wrestling card game so I guess that though it was more of a numbing agent than comfort game.

Animal Crossing and Disney Dreamlight Valley are about as comfort as it gets.

Always home with about anything Mario also.

Got hooked hard on Balatro for about a week and forced myself to take a break. Was the closest I've ever felt to a speed bender.

Great game. Also good if you get a chance, speed.

Re: Do you have a comfort game?

Playing through all (most, never played Hey Pikmin) the Pikmin games recently and I think that is about as close to a comfort game that I have.

I always love going back to the SNES era too. LttP, Super Metroid, Super Mario World, Mega Man X... That's pretty much peak gaming for me.

Animal Crossing is always a great comfort game too.

Use to be call of duty, but that series has gotten so bad that I can't even remember the last time I played it.

I go back and binge through the Souls games now, but before that it was Ikaruga, Metal Slug 2 and Flashback.

I play 1943 on the NES or my AtGames Legend for nostalgia hits.

Civilization series. Removes me from reality for hours at a time with no stress involved.

By myself: the original Doom games on my Switch Lite. Plug in some headphones for the 3D sound and start wasting demons.

With my wife: we play Kingdom: Two Crowns. We discovered it just before the pandemic and it got us through so many months of not going out. We still play to this day.

Nice. I don't think many would consider those comfort games

That's the main thing that got me into MMO raiding. I still do every raid that comes out in FF14 all these years later. Too much going on for my brain to dwell on anything else.

Re: Do you have a comfort game?

Mario Kart for me... any iteration.

... and Animal Crossing: New Horizons (but it's been well over a year since I played that game).

... oh, and Hole.io - that's my new fav.
