Looks really cool but I have to say that I’m disappointed that driving from one course to the next isn’t seamless. I think the reveal made it look like it was but there’s still and end screen and a loading screen before you drive to the next course.
I’m also worried that the huge courses could get boring after awhile. But hopefully not.

Really? I assumed that what it was. It's certainly what the video was implying, the way it is in Forza Horizons games and even Lego Drive 2K.

Look at the play videos from the treehouse. I think the elimination challenge mode is continuous. Maybe I’m not sure. Didn’t see video from that.

Driving between/to races is what killed Burnout for me back when Paradise was all the rage.
My complaints about MK8 are many, but a few I hope/hoped they would address in a sequel:
- I already thought MK8 tracks were already too wide and now we have super ultra mega wide tracks. Part of the mastery of MK was being able to navigate tight courses. That seems to have died with Double Dash it seems. Wii got wider to account for wild motion controls and it just keeps getting worse with each sequel.
- Simple one but I want a return of the upside down question block, but with those mile wide tracks it probably might not be affective anyway. There needs to be more defensive items than banana peels, and an occasional green shell for the lead racer.
- Dump coins in boxes. What a useless thing to pick up when you're battling in a tight race.
- Can't tell from a preview video but hopefully they dump the dumbed down, non-twitch version of the power slide.
- Dump character choice affecting the ability of the car.* There's plenty of characters I'd love to play as, but their stats blow so why would I ever choose anyone but the fastest 2-3 if I want to win? Keep the car features (body, wheels, sail, etc) as the only the thing affecting the cars stats. Then I might actually pick Shy Guy or Dry Bones over Metal Mario or my Mii for the thousandth time. Or just to go back to the basics. Character size determining how quickly a character reaches top speed & the larger characters having a ever so slight higher top speed that require more more skill to master.
Likely none of these things will be addressed.
And I'll still buy it at some point.

Looks like a pretty substantial technical upgrade over the last game, locked at a smooth 60fps and even has a 120fps mode for those with TVs that support it.
An awesome showcase of what’s possibly in store for Switch 2 going forward.

Anyone played a Mario Kart before with the little joycon wheel attachment?
Curious if it is worth it or not.

It’s fun as a novelty, but I find them fiddly and imprecise, and I’d rather just use a regular ol’ controller.

I don't think those prices are right. I'm pretty sure the OG MK was $50 and MK64 was definitely $50. I don't remember any GBA games being $45 let along MK. I'm pretty sure it was $30. I think the rest are pretty accurate. But that makes me not believe their inflation numbers either.
People don't remember that different stores used to sell games at different prices. That's why I hardly bought anything from Electronics Boutique or Babbages. They marked everything up. Even Toys R Us marked up some games vs Walmart Best Buy. But that doesn't mean that was the going rate of video games.

My Mario Kart fanatic of a wife has had the controller-in-a-plastic-wheel accessories for the Wii, Wii U, and Switch, and she made sure I ordered a set for the Switch 2 as well.

shit. that means I have to get a new light gun whenever, if ever that comes out. I had my old joy cons in my gun and thought that would work with SW2. those bigger joy cons would never fit into the gun. oh well.

You can use Switch Joy-Cons and accessories on the Switch 2, but they won’t turn the system on. If you’re okay pressing a button on the Switch 2 or turning on the Switch 2 with a different controller, you don’t have to replace anything.
It just comes down to convenience vs. cost.

I guess it shouldn't be surprising that this started life as a Switch title, before moving to the 2. Explains the small file size.
