Makes me want to get back to the 1st game... can't remember the last time I was playing it, but I was still very early in the game.

I loved, loved, loved GoT. Of course I'll get this. But is this a sequel or a spiritual sequel?

"Today we are so happy to announce Ghost of Yōtei, the latest game from Sucker Punch and the introduction of our new hero, Atsu.

When we set out to make a new Ghost game, we wanted to maintain the core pillars established in Ghost of Tsushima: playing as a wandering warrior in Feudal Japan, offering freedom to explore at your own pace, and highlighting the beauty of the world.

We also wanted to continue to innovate. To create something fresh but familiar, we looked beyond Jin Sakai’s story and the island of Tsushima, and shifted our focus to the idea of the Ghost instead. At Sucker Punch we love origin stories, and we wanted to explore what it could mean to have a new hero wearing a Ghost mask, and uncovering a new legend. This led us to Ghost of Yōtei: a new protagonist, a new story to unfold, and a new region of Japan to explore.

While we aren’t diving into story specifics yet today, we can reveal that Atsu’s journey takes place in 1603, more than 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. Our story is set in the lands surrounding Mount Yōtei, a towering peak in the heart of Ezo, an area of Japan known as Hokkaido in present day. In 1603, this area was outside the rule of Japan, and filled with sprawling grasslands, snowy tundras, and unexpected dangers. It’s a far cry from the organized samurai clans who lived in Tsushima, and it’s the setting for an original story we can’t wait to tell.

This is also Sucker Punch’s first game built from the ground up for PlayStation 5, and we’re excited to build on the visual foundation we established in Ghost of Tsushima by making the world feel even more real. We have massive sightlines that let you look far across the environment, whole new skies featuring twinkling stars and auroras, even more believable movement from wind on grass and vegetation, and more improvements we’ll share in the future. Our new setting also gives us the opportunity to introduce new mechanics, gameplay improvements, and even new weapons.

Our trailer today offers a glimpse into this world, but there’s so much more to show, and we’ll have much more to share in the months ahead, including details about Atsu’s journey and the people (and animals) she’ll meet along the way. We are forever grateful for the success of Ghost of Tsushima, and we can’t wait for you all to experience Ghost of Yōtei in 2025."

Anyway, I’m in, of course.

this sort of surprised me after finishing GoT....thinking they left a lot of probable directions and scenarios for the next "GoT" Game...no spoilers here. The 300 Years Timeline is a bit of a mystery but they have said more details to the story will come out. Hopefully so because GoT Jin's Story was really good along with the friends he had along the way. It all intertwined perfectly. And they have said with Atsu, her choices and decisions will have a far more impact than what was with Jin. Either way I'm in and I hope they add a form of...."Legends"".....in the mix. That was fun.

I’ve owned GoT for over three years and it’s still in the plastic. That needs to change. 😉

This game will not be $80.

I’m totally in, but I hope I’ll be long done with AC Shadows by then

We have months to finish and I'm enjoying the Shadows more and more each day. Visually it's stunning plus both characters have got a little better.

State of Play coming Thursday

I may treat this like an anticipated movie. Avoid all trailers and info so I can go in blind.

For those who don't want to watch....turn away...those who do, in for a special treat. it doesn't disappoint. This one is loaded at every turn; combat, Story, Weapons, Landscape, Modes and especially the Music.....I came away that I'll probably do the same with this one as in GoT; Ride a lot, look at scenery and listen to the music....

I LOVED Tsushima and dropped 120+ hours into it, so one would think I'd be chomping at the bit to get this, but the thought of another 100 hours is daunting.

Loved the main game and the multiplayer was some of the best four player co-op of all time. More of that too.

i assume you are talking about...Legends Mode...if so yea, totally agree. I regret not playing this more and should've. It was really fun. But it did have a few caveats...like you get in a group one might be struggling and near the last wave would bail leaving three. It was a challenge and if you got in a good group was fun but only if everyone really stuck together.... The Two Player mode was really challenging but fun as well. I've seen a lot already calling on this to return to GoY.

Yeah the caveat is it is best with three people you know and can actively chat/plan with. I never played it with randos.

Well...didn't yes or no to the Multiplayer...Legends Mode...more of less said their focus now is The Single Player Experience....I've thought and wondered if anyone is playing Legends...it was really fun and challenging...

Played a little last night. It's more of the same, which is fine with me. One of the most gorgeous games I've ever seen.

Speaking of "more of the same", they're not wrong.

Started this one up. The combat is so-so and the camera is bugging me a bit, especially when you want to swing it around while riding your horse, it is so slow. I haven't found any setting to make it swing around faster.
Gorgeous game though.
