Apparently it only works with a 2023+ Firestick 4K/MAX. I have a 2022, I'm not sure what's so special about 2023. But someone will surely try to load it on older devices. Otherwise well, there's Prime Day coming in a couple of weeks.

Neat. I played some Fallout 3 on there (it was free when the show came out), it's laggy but playable and looks great.

Works with any bluetooth compatible gamepad (latter Xbox One, PS4 pads)

Though, to be fair, "Xbox = ecosystem, not a console" has been a thing for quite a few years. They announced their cloud gaming initiative 6 years ago, had mobile gaming working in 2020, added the ability to play Xbox games in a web browser in 2021, and launched their first TV apps in 2022.

In addition to Adam’s comment, they have also quite emphatically said that their next generation console will be some kind of ‘biggest technical leap’ ever, which, to be fair, is probably code for ‘Xbox with Artificial Intelligence!’ but still means they intend to release some kind of console hardware, even if it’s very different from what we are used to.

That said, the cloud gaming stuff is neat, but far from great and very hit or miss, especially on the MS side of things. Nvidia’s cloud service is leaps and bounds ahead, with far less latency, artifacting, etc.
What I’m saying is, I don’t think this cloud streaming stuff is going to supplant ‘local’ gaming on some kind of actual box or device for most people.

The theory I saw about this is that it’s more of an MS limitation than a Firecube limitation. Like, to avoid overloading the infrastructure. I haven’t used xCloud much recently, but I’ve heard that the wait times can be pretty terrible.

Is this the same as Luna? Because this pops up on my firecube and says I can just use my controller to play Xbox games. Is this accurate? Sorry I’m not looking through thread.

FYI : The newest Firestick 4K is $34.99 currently for Prime members. For that price I might just pick one up to play upstairs or on vacation.

The purpose for MS is to stop losing millions on hardware. The purpose for customers is to not have to buy an expensive console to play game. You simply need internet. It's not different than cloud gaming on any other device that's been available for a while. Now it's just also on Amazon Fire Stick.
