The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (9/26/24: Nintendo Switch)

"The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom: It’s up to Zelda and her wisdom to save the kingdom of Hyrule in a brand-new story in The Legend of Zelda series. The people of Hyrule are being stolen away by strange rifts that have appeared, with a certain swordsman among the missing. Team up with the mysterious fairy, Tri, and use the power of the Tri Rod to create echoes – imitations of things found in the environment. Then recreate those echoes whenever you like to solve puzzles and defeat enemies. Use echoes of water blocks to reach new heights, make bridges out of old beds, throw rocks at foes – or find your own creative combination of echoes to do things your way. You can even create echoes of monsters to fight at your side in combat. Join Zelda in her quest to rescue Hyrule when The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom launches for Nintendo Switch on Sept. 26."

I've always wanted a mainline game where you play as Zelda and really love the artstyle. Super excited for this.

I hope we get a companion Zelda Amiibo to the Link one from TLoZ: Link’s Awakening.

The game should have been called “Link” instead of Zelda.
could have been a whole separate series.

Yeah The Legend of Link would have been a cool title.

This is a really good breakdown of the trailer. I really like the way Zeltik thinks and picks things apart.

From watching the trailer, he deduces that the number of triangles that follow Tri are the points you can use to create echoes. Some objects take one triangle other objects, take two or more triangles.

He has some other great insights as well.

Hard disagree. What makes it special is that it is a mainline Legend of Zelda title and not a spinoff or separate series.

Shows a lot more gameplay. I think I'm going to skip watching any more trailers for this and just wait until it comes out.

Me too. I finally put in my preorder with Best Buy. Still waiting for an Amiibo announcement for a Zelda one.

So, for 20 years (and likely dozens of posts in this forum) I have begged for a Zelda game where she's the protagonist instead of the damsel (and thereby bucking the repetitive nature/story of each and every Zelda game). I had no idea that's what Echoes was until today. This just shot to the top of my want list. Typically I'd wait on a Zelda purchase but now I'm trying to figure out a second game to get and go the voucher route.

Leaning towards Princess Peach Showtime, it would have a nice double Princess purchase vibe.

Try the demo first. I was really unimpressed. Definitely targeted for younger gamers. Like little girls. Zero challenge.

Look at the upcoming Mario and Luigi game. Or get the remade Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door. That's spectacular.

I got a charging notice yesterday for the digital version. I haven't checked, but I assume that means it can be downloaded now.

It can be. It was downloaded to my Switch when I looked at it yesterday. I don't know what day the download happened though.

I just picked it up via the voucher deal and Costco. It’s amazing and adorable. I feel like I’m playing Zelda as a kid again.

Finished last night. Damn good game, even when compared to other Zelda titles. I'd suggest playing this one handheld. It was fine docked but the frame rate wasn't consistent on my TV.

My only complaint is the combination of the echo mechanic and the fact that they let you do areas in your own order. That means that they had to build dungeons without considering any of the echoes you learn from the others. Made things a bit too easy. Whichever you choose last will be a walk in the park with the echoes you get from the others. If they had made it linear, the puzzles could have been more involved since the devs would know exactly what echoes the players has at that point.

Doesn't take away from how great and fun the game is, though. 9/10, easily.

I don’t understand how someone can finish a game in 3-4 days. I know it happens even faster nowadays but why? Don’t you like taking your time?

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (9/26/24: Nintendo Switch)

I did take my time. I had a lot of free time this weekend and when I get hooked on a game, it's all I want to spend my time on. I used to play through full CDs of multi-disc PS1 RPGs in one sitting. Also, it's not a super long game. This isn't Tears or Breathe.
