I pre-ordered the basic game but skipped the deluxe edition. I haven’t been playing a lot of DLC lately, and I can always get it later if I need it. I’m sure there’ll be a lot to do anyway.

The digital deluxe only included cosmetic stuff I believe. I think the DLC is free to everyone and so is the launch mission.

Day 1 update to remove defacing shrines. Government in Japan was concerned it could lead to actual vandalism of the shrines in real life.

Just put 3 hours in and really enjoying it. Story is great, especially if you're a fan of martial arts movies.

Apparently a certain political base is complaining because there’s a black Samurai and the ability to have a same sex relationship in the game.

I mean, he's not wrong. This is a sci-fi game franchise, not a history lesson. Recently I saw a positive review for the game that compared the franchise to Forest Gump and that's basically what it is: historical fiction that hinges on the fun cameos.

No sense in losing one's shit over that.

However, I still do not understand why people log on to watch someone play a single player game. It's the same for me with all manner of reaction videos. If it were a competition, or if it were a tutorial regarding a tricky part of a game, I'd get it.

^ I agree. I don’t watch someone play solely for the sake of playing because that does seem pretty weird to me, but I did watch a bunch of the same guy’s videos when tackling Dark Souls, just to ensure I was off to a good start. Of all the ‘streamers’ out there, he seems like genuinely one of the good ones. Glad to see him not willing to put up with bullshit in his online community.

I don’t watch streamers either, but it’s a real thing. My kid actually watches them as a way to experience a game without the stress of playing it, which I kinda get. Like getting a movie experience out of a game.

If the game is super cinematic (like Uncharted or the story mode of the last few Mortal Kombat games), that makes sense to me. And there are some fun "movie" edits of story based games. But most other games, I don't get it. Heck, I tried watching a playthrough once just to get a sense if I'd like to play the game (I really wish demos were more readily available these days) but the constant yammering from the streamer made me close the video.

Got about 24 hours in so far. Act one was amazing imo like watching a great movie. Glad this is doing well. It deserves it

Are you forced to switch between characters? Or can you play through the entire game as just one?
