And based on that tweet, I guess we're finally getting our Japan-based game.

Good timing. After we've all played feudal Japan open world games to death.

I hope they learned how they need to scale back after Valhalla. Core mechanics were good but that game was a bloated chore to get through.

They scaled back in Mirage. They scaled back too much, unfortunately. I haven't really loved one since Odyssey.

Re: Assassin's Creed : Shadows (2024)

Heh...I forgot Mirage existed. I need to play that at some point.

Agree about Odyssey. I don't think an AC game needs to be that long, but I never wanted to put it down. Put well over 100 hours into it.

Agreed. Origins was the perfect length.

I’m down. As long as it’s not another Mirage. No interest in ever playing that.

Mirage felt like DLC to Origins... it wasn't satisfying at all.

I finished Mirage but it really didn’t grab me. It was just kinda there. I preferred Syndicate, Origins, and Odyssey.

Re: Assassin's Creed : Shadows (2024)

That trailer was nothing but meh to me. CGI trailers in general no longer excite me. However, the real big problem is that Ubisoft chose to use this setting far too late. Back when fans first requested it was the time to make this game. Now, after Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Ghost of Tsushima, and most recently Rise of the Rōnin, this just feels "been there, done that, got the t-shirt."

I'm thrilled to get another game in this seting... GoT2 can't arrive fast enough. I just hope the devs for AC: Shadows are able to build upon or do something unique from the other games. Being a Samurai and being stealthy are almost in direct confict with each other. Now if Shadows was a ninja based game, that tends to make more sense to me.

Re: Assassin's Creed : Shadows (2024)

I have a feeling Yasuke will merely be a supporting character. I don't see Ubisoft straying too far from the typical formula. Yes, Valhalla was more melee focused but a hulking faux samurai is a huge departure.

EDIT: I just saw he's fully playable, so that you can actively approach the scenarios either by brute force (Yasuke) or pure stealth (Naoe).

Re: Assassin's Creed : Shadows (2024)

I liked the trailer and am definitely in. Maybe not at release, though, as I felt kinda dumb for pre-ordering Mirage then letting it sit while I played Spider-Man 2.

Of the recent Japan games, I’ve only played GOT (twice), so maybe this will still feel somewhat fresh.

There was a story(S) not long back that the two actors who played the husband & Wife duo would like to see another AC Game about their life. continued or previos.....and been a lot of calls to see that one remastered. Even on PS4 it really looked good and loved the setting which Ancient Egypt was nailed; really a breathtaking game.
