Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (2/29/2024: PS5)

Couldn't find a thread for this game, so I'm starting one.

Although I own FFVII on PS1, I can't say I was the biggest fan of it. Heck, I am 90% certain I never finished it. However, I can't deny this looks good.

Playing the demo right now. Liking the presentation, though I'm a tad iffy on the voice acting (not bad, but a hair off). I see that there are two combat styles: active and classic. I chose active for now, but based on the description it seems classic might be old school turn based. Was it like that in Remake?

Re: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (2/29/2024: PS5)

The demo was updated with another section of the game, and I just suck at it. I still keep trying but I can barely do any damage to
Spoiler:
the boss that is attacking Yuffie in Lower Junon.

I had a far easier time with the combat in Final Fantasy XVI. Here I feel overwhelmed. Still, I wanna keep trying because, although I was never the biggest FFVII on PS1, something about these remakes really appeals to me.

Yeah, the glowing praise has really done a lot to maintain my interest in this trilogy, despite how bad I suck at the demo.

the more i play Remake Intergrade, the easier it gets. there's a lot of moves and spells and items and abilities and all that. but, once you get that in check it should come easier and make it a more fluid experience. and, then the switching between partners makes it a little more complicated, but i didn't find the first part so bad. i'm level 10 now, whatever that means and getting better and better with the gameplay and controls. i won't finish before next week's release, but i will take a stab at it.

Funny enough, I'm still trying to get my hands on Remake Intergrade. I know I should just get the digital copy, but I am fixated on getting physical media. However, the current $128 price tag for the
US PS5 disc US PS5 disc
makes it prohibitive for me. So I plan to jump straight to Rebirth for the time being.

It is a heavily story driven game I can't imagine just jumping straight into Rebirth.

The demo had a recap, and I played the original on PS1. I know there are some major changes, but I don't foresee myself getting too lost.

I mean it's kinda like the lord of the rings trilogy. Would you skip Fellowship and start with Two Towers?

Difficult but not impossible.

And, as I said, I played the original. So the broad strokes are familiar to me.

After multiple tries, I finally got the hang of the combat in this game. I won't claim everything suddenly got super easy, but it suddenly clicked. Although, truth be told, finding Chadley at the Chocobo ranch and going through his various combat challenges is a big reason why.

What difficulty are you guys playing on?
I just put it on easy so I didn't have to worry about that kind of stuff. I'm just looking to get through the story without having to worry about dying too much.

Re: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (2/29/2024: PS5)

If I hadn't already pulled the trigger on the FINAL FANTASY 16 ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK Ultimate Edition, I'd love to get the FINAL FANTASY VII Rebirth Original Soundtrack - Special Edit Version - [Limited Edition].

It's a shame overpriced special/deluxe editions of games don't include comprehensive soundtracks like this. I feel lucky when a digital soundtrack is included, but I couldn't bring myself to splurge on the Digital Deluxe Edition since all I'd get is a mini soundtrack. At least give me the whole thing, if only as mp3 or AAC files (although FLAC would be the digital ideal).

Also a reminder for those buying it digitally : If you pre-order you can purchase a package of Remake and Rebirth for the price of Rebirth only. The offer expires on 3/1 at time of game launch.
Of course, most people who have PS Plus already got Remake for free. But if you didn't (or will let PS+ lapse), this is a nice deal.

I can't believe I won't be playing this at launch but Infinite Wealth is just too damn good to put down. Maybe I'll be able to pick it up for a bit cheaper when I'm ready to start in about a month.

I thought I'd have enough time to finish remake since I thought it comes out Friday. Didn't realize it launches in a few hours lol

Infinite Wealth was amazing. I think I put in 150 hours over a six week period. Very easy to play for a couple hours here and there.

Looking forward to Rebirth tonight.

Sheesh, YouTube is flooded with gameplay videos. Someone even posted all the game's cutscenes already.

Not to derail the thread but yeah. I can see it being a 200+ hour game. I'm completely sucked into collecting Sujimon and I haven't even unlocked the island yet. I put close to 100 hours into the first LaD.

Enjoy Tifa boobs....I mean Rebirth today, everyone!

Maybe it's because I was never a Tifa (or Aerith) fan, or simply the fact that she's a video game character, but I find the obsession with her tits ridiculous. Especially hearing people so passionately whine about how 15-year-old Tifa had her cleavage covered up in a recent update to Remake.

By the way, I don't mean you, Noonan. I get you were joking and why.

I’ve never noticed. But I’m not one to ogle cartoons. I know one guy that’s totally into anime. And I mean totally. Not my thing.
