Eh, there are a lot of always-online games. That’s not a deal-breaker for me — at least not at a reasonable price.

I don't think it's "always" online - I think online is required to install it, disc or not.
Once installed, you should be able to play without being online, at least on consoles.

So if servers go down it doesn't matter, you still have the game forever.

And if my internet goes down I won't be able to play it.

You only need internet to install it, not to play it.

Just watched the gameplay demo on Ubisoft’s channel. Looks really fun!

Same price online. $130 for the big daddy edition.

I just took it off my list. Once I finish my backlog I will buy it. I have just put a moratorium on new games until I play all old games I haven't played (and they're all games I really want to play). (Gamepass games excluded, I have 30 months of codes saved up)

Maybe it will be $20 when I'm done

Re: Star Wars: Outlaws (2024)

A shockingly negative preview article from Game Spot here.
Keep in mind though that most of the complaints is that it's way too easy, yet he didn't know what difficulty level the demo was set at, and it could have been on the easiest setting by Ubisoft intentionally. In any case it's a little worrying.

That's the most exciting news I've heard about the game so far.

I don't need a difficult game. I'm too old for that shit. Give me all the best mechanics of the Ubi collection in a SW setting and I should be happy.

Agreed. I don’t want a cake walk, but I don’t want it to be unbearable either.

I’ve played games on the easiest setting because I want to enjoy the story of the game and not be sidelined by difficulty in the game play.

Right there with you, Rob V.

I’m excited for this, just not sure if I’ll be able to find the time to play it.

This new gameplay footage makes it look like ass. Boring, generic ass!

Preordering an open world game that's a new property without seeing any reviews is a bold choice.

Especially one from Ubisoft, which is guaranteed to be riddled with bugs, and heavily discounted in a few months (likely with the bugs worked out).

Re: Star Wars: Outlaws (2024)

I get that Ubisoft drops prices rather quickly... but they tend to deliver and they produce mostly quality IPs with good stories and characters you can care about. Show me a developer that doesn't have launch bugs in 2024 (or ever for that matter).

Now that said, the 10 minute video didn't overly impress me. The random character stream of consciousness babbling and the ridiculous explosion at around the 6:18 mark was laughable. I see the formula is "oh, you need this? Then go do that first". I pre-ordered so I'm playing this regardless. It's the game I wanted since I was a kid - albeit not with the original heros... but I'll take it.

Re: Star Wars: Outlaws (2024)

I'm interested in this game, but between Ubisoft's history and its Labor Day release date, this has "40-50% off Black Friday Sale" written all over it.

I want this game so bad but the premium will be $20 in a year.
