A totally new game? Fuck yeah!

Did they abandon the Sands of Time remake?

Looks like a lot of fun. Interesting that the main character this time is not the actual Prince. Reminds me of the original concept for what eventually became Assassin's Creed.

After the backlash over its reveal trailer, might could be.

I too was waiting for the remake of original, but this looks day 1 to me. Love the color and action.

I was never a fan of the PoP games.

Opposite here. This is a franchise that has been neglected for the last decade. I can't wait.

Just to clarify Sands of Time is not the original. It's like the 4th game in the Prince of Persia series which started in the 80's. This one looks more like those first few games.

Re: Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

Reviews are coming out and they're all positive. Mostly in the 8/10 range. Excited to dive into it next week. I know there's a demo but I'm going to wait for the full game at this point.

Cool. Not digging the art style but I'm sure I'll play the hell out of it.

Re: Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

Prince of Persia was one of my favorite computer games back in the day. I never got into the 3D/open world games in the series though. It's very cool to see that this is a side-scroller hearkening back to the original but I strongly dislike the art style unfortunately.

Sounds really good.

Can't wait to buy it at 40-50% off MSRP in a month or two!

I feel the same way. I really wanna get it, but this being Ubisoft I won't have long to wait for a significant price drop.

Re: Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

I want to support games in series/genres I like because I want companies to keep making them. I was surprised when Ubi announced this rather than another generic open world game and I'd like to see them do more of them so I'll happily pay full price to show support. Especially when the game is good enough to warrant it.

Re: Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

I totally understand that sentiment. I also know that Ubisoft does the massive price cuts with literally every game they release. I bought The Crew Motorfest (9/11/23) and Avatar Frontiers of Pandora (12/7/23) for half off before Christmas. Both after pre-ordering Assassin's Creed Miage (10/5/23) and feeling foolish when it dropped like a rock just a few weeks later.
I like their games and want them to succeed, but if this is their business model, then I will have to adjust my buying habits accordingly. There must be some business reason why they keep doing this over and over.wheb no other major publisher discounts anywhere near as quickly.

Re: Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

the demo is fantastic. brought back such great memories. looks glorious, plays so smoothly. I loved bouncing off the walls to get to higher ground. The flying through the air. The way you heal under the Wak Wak tree. Some things I haven’t completely figured out yet. Like the amulet thing and the point of the map and what to mark, but hopefully in full game, I’ll learn gradually. I can't wait!

Re: Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

So, if I’m reading correctly, if you preorder and get 3 days early access, does that mean this Monday since comes out Thursday?

Re: Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

Played the demo yesterday. Didn't take long to see that it is definitely for me, even if I was never the biggest fan of the Metroidvania genre.

It was weird that some scenes are fully animated and others are handled like old school RPGs.

Re: Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

I played through the demo twice. I love the overall look and feel of the game, and the gameplay is solid as hell with some great platforming going on.
However, I'm very much not a fan of the leveling up, picking and choosing your perks and all that. I get why they include it -- seems like so many games feel the need to do this in one way or another as a way of communicating 'progression' for the character -- but I just don't like it.
That said, I'll get over it, and end up buying this if I can find a good deal on it.

Re: Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

After watching the Digital Foundry video on this, I decided to use some Xbox credit to sub to Ubi+ for a month. For $18, I’ll play through this and as much of Avatar as I can get through.

This game has a 120fps mode for those with displays that support it, and the DF guy 100% recommends this. Downloading now!

edit: so yeah… I put a ton of time into this overnight. It’s great, and my concerns about the character progression were mostly unfounded. The map is HUGE; I just kept going further and further.

Re: Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

Fun game so far but the combat isn't quite as tight as it could be. It's close but attack animations could use a few frames less so you can more quickly go into a slide or jump. Blasphemous has the combat for this type of game perfected.

I got to the hub area where there's a shop. I did all the tutorials the guy had available so I could buy some upgrades and am now in the forest area you go to after that part. Really like the art style. I am not a fan of all the game breaks for story/cut scenes. I'm guessing they'll be fewer and further between later on but it breaks up the gameplay too much, IMO.
