That cover makes me all nostalgia-y.... I remember grabbing the Genesis version year after year after year and playing for HOURS with my buddies. Exploiting the game bugs and running up the scores, a game that introduced highlights from other computer controlled games (genius) and, of course, the ambulance that would drive over half the team to pick up an injured player. I miss those simpler days :)

LOL... I've never liked Madden going back to the first one. Which I went out and got day 1 and hated it immediately after starting it up.

I wish the 2k series was still around, cuz I know madden wouldn't have been. The best thing they could've ever done was secure the rights to the NFL because their game is terrible.

My Steam Deck arrived the day this launched and I for some reason convinced myself to pick it up. Runs great on the Deck. I'm no Madden nut so a lot of what annoys hardcore players won't bother me. No crazy glitches like above for me so far but it definitely feels like the same exact game I've played in the past, for better and/or worse.

^^ I agree with you... same game as I remember playing several years ago. I haven't played Madden in maybe 6 or 7 years but I'm enjoying this enough. I've not experienced any game breaking glitches but in 2022, I would expect QB throw animations to look more fluid and the players not to "skate on ice". But overall, it's good and this might be the first time I complete a few seasons in a loooong time.

I'm going to wait until it gets cheaper. Since I have a PS5 now, a game really needs to be excellent for me to spend $70+ on it. Or it has to be something I am really invested in like the NBA 2K series. Madden is kind of hit and miss. I'll wait a little until they have some more updates and patches as well to fix any potential glitches.

The one thing that drives me crazy with playing right now is the state of the rosters. I know they'll evolve and the community makes excellent updates... but it'd be nice to start a Franchise (non-fantasy draft) and still be able to upload the latest rosters a few weeks into my season. As it stands now, I have players on my team who aren't even on the practice squad.

I got that notification of my free copy of Madden on 8/2. Game got released 8/19.

So for anyone who has this game and has played it, is this at least a fun and playable NFL game? I don’t give a crap about the digital stuff and upgrading my career mode’s guy with some Nike sneakers and better equipment.

I just care about being able to play Rams vs 49ers with all the updated rosters.

^^ That is a loaded question. I don't play anything but Franchise and it's really been a few years since I've played a Madden game. It's fun for sure... but there are a few frustrating things that I just can't accept. One of them being how idiotic the opposing QB can be when throwing the ball (into the ground, 10 yards away, right to my CB, etc), the CPU mismanages the clock worse than Dan Campbell as well... finally, I cannot get over how EASY it is to throw an interception. I've had games where I'd throw 5 INTs and it's easy to do. So much so that you actually really, really think about just running the ball all the time.

While I appreciate your thoughts. You just said you haven’t played Madden in a few years. So that doesn’t really help.

I should have been way more specific. Does anyone here have Madden 23 for PS5? If so, have you played it and is it a good football simulation of the NFL. All I care about is just being a good arcade style simulation. Don’t care about franchise mode, my career, digital currency to update swag, skill levels and such.

I play it all the time and despite some flaws, if you are a big football fan, and I know you are, you will really enjoy it. I'm a huge football and Raider's fan, so this is one title I get every year. They released a title update about two weeks ago, and it fixed a lot of things that weren't working like it should have been.

Honestly though, at this point if you can make it another month you can probably save some money (not sure if it's on sale right now somewhere but I definitely wouldn't buy it at full price now unless you really really want to play it now)

Hope no one who got this for Christmas wanted to play Franchise mode. I was going to play it for the first time in a week last night, kept getting a server error message, so I checked online and apparently the servers have been down for 3 days.
