Video games that aren't the same when not played on the original console with the original controllers?

Most video games can be ported to other consoles without really losing anything major in the porting process. However, some video games make extensive use of a unique feature in the original console or controllers resulting in a unique gameplay experience. What video games are just not the same experience if they are not played on the original console using the original controllers? Thanks to anyone that replies.

The NES is the first thing that comes to mind. You don't get the same gaming experience using a knockoff controller IMO.

Resident Evil 4. Easy. Fell in love with Gamecube using Wavebird. Beat it dozen times. Played on 360. Quit within minutes. Just couldn’t get back into it with controls. I’ll give this remake a go of course and I’m sure I’ll like. But, my beloved port was not the same at all. Just felt way off. The mechanics or whatever.

It's pretty rad on the Oculus Quest 2.

Atari's paddle controller games ported to a digital left/right stick. Arcade games with analog like Tempest, Centipede or Breakout/Arkanoid.

The NES is the last game system that would come to mind for me since almost every system after has a Dpad and 2 buttons so it is incredibly easy to have a similar experience.

Never ran into a video game that felt odd not playing it on the original hardware.

X-Men on the Sega Genesis, mostly because there's a part where you have to reset the computer, and it involves actually hitting the reset button on the Genesis. I don't even know how that would work on emulation.

^ There are some that offer the soft reset function. It's just tucked away in the menu system.

Mario 64 feels different without the middle analog stick with the Z-button behind it. It felt so perfect, that it still feels a little off on remakes.

In regards to RE4, I thought it played immensely better on the Wii versus the GC so I would rule that out as better on original hardware.

In regards to RE4, I never played the GC nor Wii version... I played the PS2 version.

Any light gun games ported to a console that has no light gun controllers.

And recently there was a Japanese rhythm game that used a drum controller that was ported to xbox one with no option to buy the drum controller.

8 bit and 16 bit games were designed to be played on a CRT and were designed using those monitors. It’s the difference between games looking overly pixelated in emulation versus the smoother lines on those TVs, and even the emulation doesn’t quite get it right (such as the settings on the SNES classic)

And even on the switch, it seems games are windowboxed to give an even smaller 4:3 picture than simple pillarboxing

They ported Taiko Drum master to Xbox?

Even the Switch drum controller was never officially sold here other than the import version being sold directly on the namco store for a time. But that game is way way easier of a rhythm game without the drums, which take a lot of getting used to and needs modification to make it a stable base.

Lots of Dreamcast games used the VMU so I'm not sure how that functionality is ported over in emulation (it's probably not?) And the original Animal Crossing is not the same without the GBA link, which added animal island, the ability to play NES games on the GBA, and the ability to create textures.

Im curious about the N64 games on the Switch. The available buttons dont seem to add up to be able to play OOT or Mario64.

A bigger part imo is the lag that didn't really exist back then. The precision you get from an NES hooked to a CRT is hard to replicate. Especially in the days of hdmi, home theater receivers, lcd panels and wireless controllers.

Asteroids and Missile Command just weren’t the same on the Atari 2600.

I don't have NSO Expansion Pack, but I found this image:
