The graces with the direction pointers guide you towards main story content.

Yeah, and the guy tells you that at the beginning but 99% of the people seemingly didn't interpret it correctly or clicked through it

I decided to give it another go and after an hour finally got to the elevator

Ahhh that satisfying feeling of killing your first big boss. Sure God Mode is on and sure you have One Hit Kills, but I still had to successfully connect with the axe!

Kinda, at first, a little, maybe, but not really.
After opening enough of them, they all just point to random directions, without rhyme or reason.
They're fine markers for early in the game, but not mid-game.

One quality of life benefit would have been able to turn off any grace arrow where you've accomplished whatever goal it wants you to accomplish. Clean up the map a little bit.

… I made it through the game just fine using the grace direction markers and npc dialogue or item descriptions. You may just need to look up an online guide.

They're fine for mid game if you only concern yourself with the direction being pointed to from your most current bonfire. If you're on Atlus Plateau, only pay attention to the direction shown from those bonfires.

Fired this up for the first time in a long time and forgot how instantly intimidating it can be

That DLC needs to come out already

What a waste.

Anyone tried a bow only character? I see on Youtube with players with maxed dexterity and using good bow like the Serpent Bow which cause poison buildup and using the Barrage tailsman.

You take all the fun out with cheats. The frustration is real but the satisfaction of beating a boss is amazing.

Is it though?

I far more enjoy when I'm way OP and decimate everything in my path with no effort. To me, that's more fun than the satisfaction that I don't have to keep banging my head against the wall of a difficult boss. That, and my favorite thing about this game is the world and exploring it - difficult bosses are nothing but annoying speed-bumps/barrier to that.

I thought exploring the world to find your path forward was too much "work" for you?

Grinding and finding gear and leveling will help you become somewhat OP. God mode on the other hand is like getting a game and using a code to instantly unlock everything. Do God mode or cheats after you’ve finished it.

I wanted to quit a few times when I was getting owned by bosses. I dusted myself off, and equipped different gear, or ashes, and I kept going. It was worth it.

I would totally be able to explore more of the world and find different paths forward if it wasn't for all those pesky bosses in my way!

I am at level 80, so I am OP in certain areas, which is where I'm having my fun. And I'm not asking for a god-mode, just something not as frustrating as (some) of the bosses can be.
Having said that, this game is nowhere as difficult as Demon/Dark Souls/Bloodborne.

This game crossed the 20m sales mark. That's insane to me since it still feels like a niche title.

Re: Elden Ring (From Software | Miyazaki | Martin | Feb 2022)

Neat. After 2 years it almost seems like this should be a full sequel

This looks much better than the Dragon's Arena they hinted at early on.

Looks like this is a full on Expansion Pack vs what we normally get from DLC.

Fuck, I stopped playing this about a year ago and probably got 20% in or so. I will definitely be getting this expansion pack upon release.
