Re: What Are You Playing? (January 2021)
I've played a good bit of Watch_Dogs: Legion over the past few days, but I've mostly been ignoring the story in favor of freeing districts and grabbing tech points. I'm guessing I'll be so obnoxiously overpowered soon that the campaign will be even more of a cakewalk.
After that...? Some combination of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, Immortals: Fenyx Rising, and CrossCode. Maybe a wildcard if I get something on sale.

I’m finally going to finish Horizon Zero Dawn (PS4) today and start on Spider-man: Miles Morales (PS4).
I also need to wrap Breath of the Wild (Switch) - which I started over three years ago - and play Age of Calamity (Switch) soon.
... plus I’m having a blast with TumbleSeed (Switch).

Holy god is this a fun and one of the most beautiful games I have ever played. Was very hesitant because I just haven’t been into platformers, especially old school Metroidvania style games. Know this and it’s sequel were very highly praised, but just been and open world third person, but mostly FPS gamer, this has changed my view and glad I bought the Will of Wisps even though free with GP, but wanted to own. And thanks to Quest I do. Already bought the DE for this long ago...

I just blew through the campaign for the latest CoD on Series X. I hadn’t played anything in the series in years, but saw it in a B2G1 holiday sale and thought the 80s espionage angle sounded fun. I still will give multiplayer and Zombies a look, but holy shit was the campaign disappointing. Maybe I’m looking back on the old games with rose-tinted glasses, but this felt like it didn’t hold a candle to them. Loose, simple, boringly easy gameplay with a short, cliched story filled with unlikeable characters. If the other two modes don’t grab me quickly, I’ll be trading this in while it’s still worth something.
As a palette cleanser, I popped in Maneater tonight. The first couple hours didn’t grab me as much as expected based on the buzz, but for the Black Friday price of $13, I’m not complaining.
I’ve also been playing through Pikmin 3 Deluxe with my sons and that’s reminding me how much Nintendo needs to get 4 developed. Just a joy of a game.

Just completed the excellent point-and-click/puzzle game Agent A: A Puzzle in Disguise. Navigation is a bit clunky and there can be a lot of backtracking, but that's a minor quibble.

Started playing Spider-Man on the PS5. I think I suck, but just at web-slinging and fighting. As long as I walk everywhere and avoid conflict, I should be fine.

Recently Finished:
Steamworld Quest (Switch) after three great Steamworld games (Dig 1 & 2 and Heist) Quest is their first mediocre one. The characters and story are uninteresting and the gameplay is repetitive. The card deck size is way too small. Having like 40 cards per character that I can upgrade and then only letting me use 8 was way too constricting and made me just work on upgrading existing cards instead of unlocking new ones.

Recently Finished: Call of Cthulhu (PS4) (if you're going to play one previous generation Lovecraft go with The Sinking City. They both are janky but at least The Sinking City has interesting characters and story.)
Currently Playing: Murder by Numbers (Switch)

Earlier in the month finished (PS4):

I don't know the hour count, but it must have been a lot! I know it's been said that no great movie can be too long. I don't know if that's true of video games. This certainly had great parts, but I was more than ready for it to be over by the end
In the last couple of weeks, just finished (also PS4):

Thankfully a lot shorter than RDR2 (I don't think I could've handled more of the dark gloomy setting, against a backdrop of a pandemic no less). I'm glad I waited until the price came way down (it was a recent free PS+ game). This had its moments, though Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines remains by far my favorite vampire video game.
I need to play something a lot lighter in tone next. Maybe time to finally tackle Kingdom Hearts 3 (I'd been working my way through every game in the series since last spring).
