So question, if we get switch online expansion pack which includes the DLC, what happens if we decide not to renew? Do we lose access to the DLC?

I'm assuming that you do. I'd guess that anything you unlock on your main island you can keep. Just can't access the DLC portion of it. I'm a bit torn on if I should just pay the one time fee of $25 or upgrade to the expansion pack. I wonder if you can upgrade month to month or if you have to do a whole year chunk at a time. Because month to month would be great. Upgrade for a month play a bunch of N64 games and get your fill of the AC DLC and see if you want to continue.

I'm pretty happy with everything they announced. It seems like all great additions and fixes and improvements I didn't even know I needed. I'm not sure why they had to make a big deal that this was the last major upgrade for the game. Why not keep it going? It's still selling like hotcakes.

Not much do now, as the stores were closed by the time it downloaded, I look forward to tomorrow. Should be fun.

Went on my first boat ride. Not much to say. Same fruit that I already have. Got a fossil but mostly just collected wood and ore and clay and whatnot. Did walk around collecting mushrooms, even though I really only have one recipe for them, so right now I'm just kinda storing them. Did notice that Nook's shop does have several new items, so I look forward to purchasing them. And got a new islander, which is always a welcome presence. Aside from that, I hope the new content is more, but we'll see.

Make sure you visit Blathers first. He gives a challenge to look for Brewster, who’s somewhere on one of the islands with the boat ride. When you find him, go back to Blather’s and he’ll announce that the museum will be closed the next day for the cafe. Kapp’s boat ride is only once a day. I also went to Harv’s Island and paid the bells to get one of the stores started. Pretty fun stuff so far.

Too little too late. I downloaded the update and the museum is closed to get the coffee shop but it's been so long that I've forgotten whatever plans I had for my island. I'm a hoarder and I guess that's the "wrong" way to play. If this update happened last spring I might still be an avid player. Now, meh.

Blathers will give you the challenge to look for Brewster. After you get the task, go to your pier and you’ll meet Kapp’n who offers boat rides for 1000 Nook Miles (limited to 1 trip per day). When he drops you off at an island, Brewster will be walking around. When you get back to your island, go back and talk to Blathers and he’ll ask if you found him. Then Blathers will announce the museum will be closed the following day to get the cafe ready.

Cappn took me to an island last night with shooting star galore!
They were falling from the sky for wishing (I made quite a few wishes).
I found quite a few on the shores of the island (i.e. large, small, and zodiac sign related).
The nicest surprise came from the rocks on the island: each rock gave me 8 star fragments - most of them related to zodiac signs!!!
I also got some vines (awesome by the way), some bushes I hadn't seen before, and a recipe for a Lily Wand.
This morning when I played, my island's beach was littered with star fragments (all sorts)... so that was a great island!
My wife visited an island with lumenaria plants and bushes and a recipe for a glowing suit.

Wow, that’s a great way to do star fragments? So you wished on them, then the next day you went to an island again and they were all over there?

The islands we have visited so far have been pretty boring. One of them was loaded with mushrooms, but nothing really noteworthy for us so far.

… then this morning, on my beach, there were fragments from this wishes the night before.
