I shut my gates for now. Let me know if anyone would like to visit my island to sell turnips. I’m off today and just hanging out at home to keep away from COViD.

You should see them in real life. An amazing creature.

How often do you find animals on islands when you use Nook Miles tickets? I travelled to five different islands today and didn’t meet one new character to try to get to visit my island. I have only found 1 guy a lion on eight different trips.

Do you have a house open for someone to move into? I haven't pulled in anyone new from an island in a while, but seemed like as long as I had an open house, there was almost always someone on an island.

Yeah, you definitely have to set aside some land. And I think the most you can have is 10, plus however many human players are allowed.

I only have five islanders. So, you have to have empty houses? I just built the campsite for Tom Nook.

Go to Tom Nook and “sell some land”, then he’ll give you a home kit to place (as usual) and then start hunting for residents.

Rinse and repeat for the rest.

Caught back to back Coelacanth’s today. I thought those were supposed to be worth a lot? The little raccoons only offered me $15,000.

I have turnips for 290 bells still if anyone is interested. Let me know. I'm on Central time, so the shop closes in 3 hours and 45 minutes.

There are a few that are worth that much, but that is tops for a fish.

I'm still seeking my first, that's the only one that has been available that I haven't caught yet. Did you use bait to catch them, or just happened upon them?

It has to be raining to catch the Coelacanths. I am sick of having villagers ask me to change the secret phrase or other stuff on a daily basis. I have all 8 photos, so if might be time to send some packing when they threaten to leave.

I saw them at an aquarium in Lisbon. They are massive... and as you watch them you wonder how they swim.

Turnip calculator is suggesting that I have a 51% of a high spike tomorrow AM only, defined as anywhere between 198 and 594 in this case. I'll let y'all know if it actually ends up on the higher side.

Now that I've used it a couple times I can't recommend turnip exchange enough. Super easy and I've gotten 600 bells for turnips each week and I've spent less than 10 minutes in a queue each time. Most people are just asking for a single Nook Miles Ticket which Nook Miles are useless to me late game.

The summer update is live now! It wasn’t automatic; we had to trigger it manually. I’m seeing other people report the same on Twitter.

439!
come by if you like...

Edit: closed now. Made a killing on visitors even though I didn't ask for tips.

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't get a mail either. The update didn't go smoothly, I had to close and reopen the program a couple of times to get it to work. It also would have been nice to get some in game exposition about the new features.

Maybe I'm just annoyed because I got a new campground visitor and it's Gloria. I still can't get my first forced campground visitor, Leopold, to leave.

There is in game exposition. When you buy a wet suit from Nooks it walks you through the whole swimming thing. When you talk to Blathers he tells you about new stuff you can donate.

Really digging the new diving mechanic. Most of the things I've caught have been really easy but I had one that I had to chase for almost 10 minutes before catching. I won't spoil what it is.

re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons (3/20/20, Switch; 1/15/26, Switch 2)

The only downside (and to be clear, it's super minor) to the swimming stuff is that it can be harder to block visitors from getting to certain areas. My island is still a mess (my kids leaves stuff all over, dropped, not placed), so I fenced in Nook's & Able's as they're close to the airport, while I was selling turnips. No one did it, but folks can now jump off your airport pier and get to any area accessible from any beach. Not a major problem by any stretch, just a potential area of concern if you have people coming and going or if you have areas that were otherwise 'private'.
A little reorganizing will make it even less of an issue, though.
