Ok, I unlocked terraforming and have a question. On adding paths, what's the difference between using the custom designer app and "display on ground" vs using the terraforming app and placing down a path? Aside from not "erasing" by accident do your residents react differently to them?

I think the residents treat all paths the same.
I am willing to share gold roses and black roses for you all to grow more. I will bring one gold rose, which will grow more gold roses over time, and two black roses to your island. All I ask is that you give me a watering can and one gold nugget so that I can make you a golden watering can. You will then use that gold watering can on your black roses daily and they will eventually grow more gold roses. I will do this for the first two requests. I will fulfill more requests once I get more black and gold roses to grow.

I ran around my island 3 times today about 11:50 trying to find her

The blue roses are still eluding me. Supposedly you need reds from orange and purple rose hybrids and then from there you might get blues. Not certain about this process. Black roses will only turn out gold roses only by watering them with the gold watering can.

It's rained on my island 9 of the last 10 ten days, been great for my trying to get all the hybrids.

I don’t think villagers respond to paths. More drawn to seating, flowers, and instruments

Yea, you can display any of your custom designs on the ground. It's how I have all my paths right now (I made a custom stone tile). I'll eventually redo them all through the construction app so I won't accidentally kick them away, but it's a chore. I have to wipe away the existing design to lay down the same one again.

On a side note I got my Futurepress guidebook on Sunday. It's a heavy tome. It'll be outdated soon enough and it's much easier to look specific items up online but I still love the care and effort they put into it and my kids will love it.
Also, just perusing it I already found some things I didn't notice, like the TVs actually give out useful information such as tomorrow's weather.

Working towards blue roses, but it definitely seems like it'll be awhile. I'll share my progress in case it's helpful to anyone.
I made three large flower beds, all with seeds; white, yellow, and red roses. They're set up in rows of 2 with enough space around them to spawn more while ensuring the three colors don't crossbreed.
After a couple days, roses of each main color appeared from the buds. All good and normal.
Also got 1 black from the reds, so I moved that to its own area.
Next day, I got some extras of each main color but discarded them just like weeds. Also got another black (from the reds) and a purple (from the whites). I put the black with the other black I already had, and dug up one of the original yellows to plant next to the purple in a spot away from all the rest.
Next day, lots of extra whites, yellows, and reds. Discarded those. Also got another black, another purple, and a pink. I put the purple with another yellow. The purples & yellows are meant to make a hybrid white, which will be used later. So the more pairs I have, the better chance of getting those hybrid whites. I put the third black with the other two blacks. The pink is of no use for getting the blue, but I didn't want to discard it, so just put it off to the side to spawn more pinks for fun.
Once I have enough hybrid whites, I can mix those with the existing purples to get 'testing' purples. And from there... I'll have to check the notes to remind myself what needs to be done.

It's International Museum Day... so there's an Stamp Event at the Museum. Talk to Blathers to get the low down.
It's not that involved, but kind of fun... and it'll be amazing for those who have never stepped on the dots in the Dinosaur part of the museum.

So do these hybrids essentially just happen? I have some purple flowers that spawned (can't remember which ones) amongst some others (those were red, white and yellow).

Yep, they just happen. The best chance is to hope for rain during a couple of consecutive days and you will see flowers sprout like wild. I had a two day period where I was switching back and forth between days to get art and it was raining during that time period in both days. After I completed several day swaps, there were flowers all over my island.

Here is my current list of recipes to share. Let me know what you would like.
The only stipulation is that you have to come and get them. I'll round them up and throw them on the beach for you to get your education on.

Here's the ones I am interested in:
Garden Bench
Log Bench
Natural Square Table
Scarecrow
Signpost
Zen-Style Stone
Let me know when your island is open for visitors and I'll come grab them if they are still available (and have another look around your wonderful creation again- it's been a few weeks).

Thanks for coming! You should take my concert venue idea and make a much bigger and badder one. Make an amphitheater somehow with a lawn and such. The problem is that that you start to run out of island real estate. I did the best I could with what land I had and as little terraforming as possible. I still had to do some to reshape streams and a few cliffs. I was going to ask if you wanted me to bring some black roses and a gold one so that you can start a gold rose garden. Let me know.

Hah, the first thing my wife said when she saw that was "we need to build an amphitheater!". So that is in her brain now, and we will probably look at doing that in the near future.
Think I'm good on the flowers for now (but thanks!). I'm kinda liking trying to get them to spawn all the hybrids. I have a few black roses already, so they will be there whenever I get to the golden watering can point.
