Luigi's Mansion 3 (10/31/19: Switch)

One of my most anticipated games of the year and I can't wait to start it up now that I finished up The Outer Worlds. It sucks that pretty much every territory other than the US is getting a cool glow in the dark steelbook.

I played a little. The game is very cute and fun. It controls way better than the 3DS game. The animations are adorable.

Nintendo also fucked up big time not having a Gooigi amiibo.

I played about 2 hours and it's fantastic. Love the
references and Nintendo making fun of themselves.

It takes a little bit to get to the point where you can do it, but this is a really terrific game for couch co-op.

Picked this up on a whim, it's fantastic. It's simple anyone for anyone to enjoy but requires enough ingenuity to not come across like a walkthrough Yoshi title.

Picked this up last night when I was pre-ordering Pokemon. I did the Pokemon order first and the Switch apparently was able to download the full game? Either way, I wasn't able to start yet since the download was taking a while.

How is the gameplay? My daughter wants this for Christmas and I was wondering if it would be too hard a game for a ten year old? She's really good at these types of games, so unless it's super difficult, I think she would enjoy it.

The core gameplay is really accessible. (The in-game prompts reference a lot of face buttons, but I'd recommend using the bumpers/triggers instead. That way, you can just have one thumb on the left stick and the other thumb on the right, and you don't have to fuss with any of the face buttons at all.) At least with where I am now (about halfway through), the difficulty spikes are more "what does it want me to do?" as opposed to "this is friggin' impossible". The most challenging bits are more puzzle-y problem solving rather than straight-up action or pixel-perfect platforming or whatever.
It's definitely one of my favorite games I've played this year.

There are also hidden gems to find in every level (some of which are pretty devious) as well as hidden Boos to capture. Getting all of those will add quite a bit of time to the total.

This game is fantastic for couch co-op. My 5 year old son really wanted it and its great fun to play together sucking up ghosts, figuring out puzzles, etc. Gooigi is an actual character with his own vacuum and abilities. He can do everything Luigi can except open doors so it really is co-op and not one person does everything and the other person occasionally pushes a button (looking at you Mario odyssey and cappy).
