I don't remember what other games were Holiday 2020 releases, but if any of them are launching on PC at the same time, that's where I'll be playing them.

Wasn't there something about no current drives were fast enough (or they were just coming out right now)? Obviously a lot will change by launch but these things are going to be super expensive for a while, I think.
edited to add: found a link. Oh great there's no standard size either. Sony will obviously validate which drives can be used but man I hope that original drive lasts me at least a few years before I need to expand: https://wccftech.com/playstation-5-h...ys-validation/ |
re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
Rumored price, $700. It's likely wrong. I know this price would not sit well for gamers.
This was taken from a pre-order listing. So it's probably not accurate. |
re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
My guess is $500. Maybe $600 and $500 for the no disc-drive model.
|
re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
I'm still a firm believer that neither Series X or PS5 goes above $500. It's suicide. That's probably just a placeholder price.
Also, it never dawned on me that we never got a *new* Ratchet and Clank game this gen, just the 2016 remake (which was technically new to me since I never played the original). |
re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
I could see $499 easily.

re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
Before the digital only system reveal I figured 500 was the price point. Now I’m leaning to the disc based version being 549-599 and the digital priced at that 500 price. I can’t see Sony pricing either version lower than 499 so the disc version will have to be 50-100 dollars more.
After the presentations I’ve started talking myself in to no day one purchase this generation and waiting for that first price drop. I think initial pricing is going to be an important factor for a lot of people. |
re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
I'll say $400/$500 for digital/disc. I don't think $50 is enough incentive for people to jump to all digital.

Right now there's still a lot and plenty on the PS4 side...we have The Last of Us Pt 2, Ghost of Tsushima, AC; Vahalla coming up and a lot of older games with life in them. I still have stuff in Warframe, Fallout 76, Elder Scrolls Online, finish AC: Odyssey, have yet started COD: WWII..... I'll probably try and get it but won't go ballistic and have a meltdown if I don't which everyone knows full well any and all stock will be gone in the 1st hour....actually a lot gone before even going on sale thru backroom and employee deals if you know what I mean. I just don't see how Sony can meet the obvious demand when this becomes available. It was something like 10 million PS4's sold August 2014 and now it's 108 million. I don't see how with current situation especially in Asia Region where the bulk of manufacturing is they can have even 10 million ready. |

One of the PS5 Games on the board to come out when console hits is Godfall from Gearbox....the PC Gaming Show was yesterday and Gearbox showed off more gameplay....

For those thinking about getting the PS5 yet want a PC...you can actually get both and have a matching set.... https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/202...-think-so-too/

Yeah, it seems like you are going to have to pick 3-5 games that are going to be loaded onto your console at one time. This also depends on how much space the OS system takes up and how much is reserved. This doesn't even account for screenshots and videos that one might want to save. I have to say a big no to the digital only model. Downloading 100 gig games is a cap and bandwidth killer. A 50 or 100 dollar discount isn't enough for me to go without a drive. A drive that I can also use to play movies, which should have been a part of the Pro in the first place. Discount digital copies by 10 bucks and you get closer to making it worthwhile.

Totally agree. I put a 2TB drive in my PS4 and I still feel cramped for space sometimes. Sure would've like more space in the 5 (without adding on).

I'm the same way, I keep tons of games on my system at once. If moving between "normal" external HDD and the onboard one isn't pretty quick (since that's the only way you can play PS5 games), that'll probably curtail my buying of games a bit.
As to those worrying about the size of the Special SSD NVMe....from what I know, we get an additional SSD Slot...basically no different than PC's having a extra slot to put a drive in. Still no details as to how and where but this is a huge plus. We'll be able to keep the OEM Drive with OS and whatever, add another be it 250gb or 1TB while having an outboard USB Drive to play PS4 Games and store any PS5 Games. I don't think we'll be hurting for storage that bad. |
re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
I think I will focus more on completing 4 or so titles at a time than having so many titles at once. I have greatly curtailed my game purchases, my last one was Animal Crossing in March and the free Lego Ninjago on PS4. The next is Last of Us 2. I am going to try my best to continue reducing the number of purchases so close together. I still think that 80-100 gb games will be the norm moving forward and this will quickly eat into our storage space like a gold digger depletes a bank account.

re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
So rumors floating around on pricing (got these from my daily update via Google so take with a grain of salt). Nothing seems ridiculous or odd but the headset is intriguing.
PS5 - $499 for regular version, $399 digital Vertical Stand - $25 Remote - $30 PS5 Pulse 3D Wireless headset (VR??) - $160 HD Camera - $60 Controller - $60 Controller Charging Station - $30 |
re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
When they talk about a 3D headset, they mean 3D sound, like the Platinum headset, can make directional sound not only 360 direction but up and down as well.
