Been mostly replaying my old stuff such as Hollow Knight and Celeste to save money for this week. Won't be saving once all the games hit tho, definitely going for New Dawn and Exodus

Re: What Are You Playing? (February 2019)
I started Spider-man before Christmas (only got a couple hours in) and took a break from modern gaming. I've been firing up and rebuilding my N64 & Gamecube collection. So lots of Mario Kart 64 & Double Dash* and some Luigi's Mansion with my youngest. I also introduced her to Portal so we're just about done with that one. 1-2 levels left.
More recently I nabbed Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze on the WiiU for $10. That game is gorgeous and two worlds in, already kicking my ass.
* I have to say diving back into MK: 64 & Double Dash has really shone a spotlight on how far the franchise has dipped in quality. I mean there was always rubber-banding and giving last place players better items, but it's not near as bad in these two as it is in the Wii game and MK8. They've dumbed the series down to a "everybody's a winner!" type design with giant maps, over emphasizing penalizing the first place players with shit items. Dumping classic items like the mystery block. Widening maps so no one ever drives off the road, etc.

I've played 100's of hours of MK8 and I've been playing the series since the beginning and other then the first one I find the rubber banding to be pretty consistent. Even with it if you're even slightly good at the game you should be destroying average players.
I play with family a couple times a year and I'll literally just go backwards for the first minute or so just to give me a challenge and I still never lose.

Double Dash is still the peak of the series for me.

I just got into playing Just Cause 2 for Playstation 3 a day ago. Im still in the beginning and just unlocked the 3rd Agency story mission.
Exploring, i wasnt expecting the islands to be huge. Took me 2 hours wandering in the snow mountains just to get to one of the military compounds to see what it was like

Couple that with the super wide tracks which takes any skill out of staying on course and it just highlights the flaws of the newer games. The super wide courses started on the Wii, so I'm assuming that was done to overcompensate for how imprecise the motion controls were to help keep people on track and that just carried over to the WiiU & Switch with MK8. That's just a guess though.
The timed power slide in MK8 vs. rocking the analog is another ding, IMO. Just another way to simplify the game to remove any challenge. It doesn't bother me as much as the first two though.
*Collecting coins on the course is a decent concept, but to have them take up spots in item blocks is another ding. It takes the place of actual items so there is less battling between the racers.
I don't think it got as much love as it deserved. Looking at metacritic it's sitting at 87, but I don't recall player feedback as glowing.

Finally finished up Fallout 4. Well, as much as I cared about, anyway. I had no desire to complete the handful of Nuka-World quests that were lingering around.
Went back to work on some of the accruing PS+ games on the PS3.
Started Syberia

It’s a bit repetitive but I’ll miss playing as Bayek.

That was my feeling as well. I originally bought the DLC on release in 2017 but my Teaching Schedule doesn't leave me with much downtime for Gaming.
Ended up putting the DLC aside in favor of the Nintendo Switch & Dragon Ball FighterZ (PS4).
Target's recent B2G1F Sale pushed me to finally finish the DLC 1.5+ years later

Playing Hollow Knight on PS4.
Really great game so far, but I can see myself getting struck on a boss at some point and quitting out of frustration.

I've been playing Persona 5 almost exclusively for the last two weeks. I'm hooked. I also played about 30 minutes through the beginning of Red Dead Redemption 2 last week.

Re: What Are You Playing? (February 2019)
yeah. the load screens are numerous too, while not nearly 2m that many report, still a lot, but i love the mechanics and gameplay and flying is so natural and easy to control. i can't even drive in games, but i can fly in this one. too bad people got sour taste from the early reviews. sure, it's not without flaws, but if you don't think about that and just play for what it is, i think many would enjoy...
