I'd think a consumer likes the idea of a one stop, easy to use shop for playing a bunch of old games they knew and loved, so the price tag is worth it. As someone that bought the NES and SNES, and might keep a preorder for this, I don't want to bid or look for games i want to play, deal with cartridges/discs, memory cards, video inputs, etc.

I'm a "core" gamer and don't want to deal with that stuff, so I can only imagine the average consumer doesn't want to either.

I do think we're coming to the point where the consumer realizes he bought these classic systems and they just collect dust, though.

But I dunno, I'm not really that nostalgic for Ps 1 games because like I said before, the ones most likely to be on the system have been regularly available digitally for some time now.

The ones that mixed polygons and sprites are some of the best-looking RPGs of the era.

Grandia:

Suikoden:

Or even just all sprite-based, like Lunar:

Etc.

I was a N64 guy so I'm not all that nostalgic for a PS1. But as far as this generation goes I agree with fujishig:

Not only that, but some of the most popular ones had remakes and remasters along the way already. Outside of Zelda and Mario 64, Nintendo has ignored the N64 library since its demise. There's more of an attraction there to revisit the N64 library because of that(of course a LARGE chunk of the best games left with Rare).

No matter which system you preferred though, I imagine the early days of 3D gaming are not going to look so hot on HD/4k tvs.

It pretty much HAS to have that 2.5D platformer Pandemonium.

Maybe we'll get an unreleased game like the SNES did with Starfox 2. Time to bring back Thrill Kill!

This comes from Gamestop's website:

A compatible USB AC adaptor (not included) is required to use this console. Use an AC adaptor that supports 5 V, 1.0 A USB (Type A) output.

They should have an unlockable Easter Egg. Complete all games and it unlocks a hidden game 'Bubsy 3D'

An even better easter egg; an actual real-life Bubsy breaks into your home and shits on your chest - would be preferable to that game.

You know, I wouldn't be shocked to see the PSX port of Doom make it. Although it was a couple of years after the PC version, it was the first decent console port for a system people actually bought. It fits the theme of appealing to nostalgia for the general era, like how the NES Classic had ports of Donkey Kong and Pac-Man.

For a puzzle game I would love to see Intelligent Cube, make the cut.

Plus it has one of the best soundtrack, they are all very creepy and haunting.

I could see MediEvil maybe. PS1, Sony exclusive, rated Teen.

Looking that up, I see a PS4 remaster in 4k is coming, so maybe not.

I find it hard to believe the system does not come with a way to power it. I don't believe GS for shit anyway.

It says so right on the box.

I see. It comes with a USB cable but not an actual USB to AC adapter.

For $100 I don’t see why they couldn’t include one. At least you can get them pretty cheap though if you don’t already have a spare one lying around.

It's weird if they didn't include a power adapter, although Nintendo has also done that before on a 3DS XL.

That’s true. I never understood why Nintendo did that with the 3DS. I mean if you have one it’s something you’re going to need no matter what.

Apparently in Japan it's normal. Looks like the practice is making it's way here. I'm guessing most people have a few spare around anyway.

The 3DS is different as it’s a unique plug that goes into the actual handheld. Even if you had a DS prior to the 3DS the plug was different. I’m sure the PlayStation Classic is just a normal USB.
