$25 might get me to buy. But now I’m wondering if I should hold out for $20. I was never really a PS1 player, so these don’t have nostalgia for me like the NES and SNES classics did. |
Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games
It won't hit Dollar Tree, but it could definitely hit a place like Five Below at some point.

Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games
The price drops for this thing have been fascinating to watch.

Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games
$5 is about the most I'd pay for it though tbh. Have zero use for it given the game collection, bad setup and settings, and lack of analog sticks.

Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games
It's worth more than $15 for the mod-ability alone
|
Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games
Mine showed up today. None of the built in games excite me much. Time to mod. |
Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games
Best Buy $19.99.

Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games
Target and Amazon, also $20

Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games
It’s amazing that less than one year later, Sony is basically giving these away. They can’t be happy what a bomb this product turned into. |
Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games
Pretty sure they canned whoever made all the boneheaded decisions that went into the product. Unless it all came from higher up management, then they probably just blamed it on some subordinate.

Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games
It's too be, because a mini-PS2 with the right games could have been awesome! Doubt it will happen now, though.

Sony wants a piece of that market, and watching both Nintendo and SEGA do well might just reinforce that, yup, the mini-PS1's performance was their fault. |
Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games
It's hard to come up with a list of top PS2 games that haven't been remastered on the PS3 or PS4 already.

I would much prefer a mini Saturn and Dreamcast.

This. The failure of the PS Classic was monumental mostly due to boneheaded decisions from pricing to the amount of games and Sony's inability to grasp that people could get most of the games included and play them on a PS3 for less than what the original retail price was for this Classic system. I doubt that there's going to be a PS2 classic as most of those games have been remastered and are available on the PS store for the PS4.

Plus the crown jewel of the collection being FF7 would only appeal to the most uninformed gamer. Otherwise, why would you toil through terrible dated polygon graphics for over 100 hours when a complete remaster will be available next year? Final Fantasy Tactics would have been a much better fit.

Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games
Does anyone know if there would be an issue returning our new in box unit using our original receipt? I still have the other one boxed up to, but I did open it, so I was just trying to help them out returning an unopened one. There is a separate barcode, so I didn't know if that was locked to the receipt or not.

I don't think the new FF 7 is going to be a complete remaster, though... the last bits of info I saw seemed to indicate a complimentary experience for those who already played through FF7, though I could be wrong.

So long time FF7 fans have every reason to still play the original version. |
Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games
The main issue with FF7 is you can already legally play it on a half dozen other platforms. It doesn't need a dedicated release.
I bought this full price for I.Q. and Mr. Driller, I was happy with those two and Metal Gear Solid, Revelations: Persona, Super Puzzle Fighter II and Wild Arms. It's fine overall, but it's not a "mass appeal" set of games outside of MGS and FF VII (which again, you can even buy for your cell phone). Plus it's really easy to mod which has been nice. |

If they tied your purchase to the receipt you should see that unit's serial number printed right on the receipt. On my buys they did do this. If you're out of luck, I wouldn't worry about returning the opened one so long as they allow it.. it's their policy, after all.

Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games
I see you bought at Target - pull up your "receipt" in your online account. You should see the serial number listed somewhere in there just like with mine.
But all good if you can take the opened one back.. I may have to do the same eventually if better prices keep appearing :) |
Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games
Yep, I returned it with no issues. They did scan the serial number, so I'm glad I did.
