^^ I don't know about that though. I have the Asteroids machine and like others have said it is a compact size. Fitting 4 people around looking at the screen would feel pretty cramped IMO.

As expensive as these are, it seems like a waste since you're only getting three or four games. They should have sold a vanilla cabinet as the main piece of hardware and then had the different game bundles as swappable cartridges or something. If these become more popular, I wonder if they'll do something like that? There's a couple I want, but I'm not dropping $300 a piece on them.

Edit: I looked at 1UP's site and it looks like you can the purchase the boards that contain the other game bundles, as well as the controller decks, so they are somewhat modular. Although, the FAQ says you can't modify the machines, but they might mean hacking to add other ROMS.

These things are cool. But I just have a feeling that if I got one, it would be used for about a weekend and then collect dust.

Same here. I've had the SF and MK cabinets in my shopping cart a few times each and I haven't pulled the trigger for that reason.

Re: Arcade 1UP

I got one ($75 at Walmart) specifically to put a Raspberry Pi in, not for the few games it stocked. Even then, it will probably end up as a dust collector at some point.

Yes, I wish these would be released on current gaming consoles.

If Karate Champ had the Burgertime artwork I would have bought it immediately. I’ve been looking for a reasonably priced original one for a while.

Yeah I’m inclined to agree. Although I do have to say out of the ones they’ve released/announced to date that Turtles one is damn tempting.

Re: Arcade 1UP

Man the Turtles one is so tempting I can't see myself passing. I want the Final Fight, Mortal Kombat and Turtles one badly. The Marvel one I'm on the fence with. I never really played the Marvel fighting games but I would love to have the arcade version of Punisher. If the Marvel cabinet had Spiderman, Punisher and X-Men I would have bought it in a heartbeat.

majorjoe23 06-11-19 07:45 AM

Re: Arcade 1UP

Turtles is awesome. But I feel like I would be much more likely to replay something like Pac-Man or Burger Time or a fighting game over and over again than a side scrolling brawler where it’s easy to reach the end due to unlimited credits. After beating it there’s not a ton of replay other than going back through to do it with a different character.. I’m content playing it on my 360 every few years.

I am about to get a full size Frogger machine for my office. I’ve been playing that at my grandparents/parents house the last 20+ years, so I know the replay value holds up.

I loved Burgertime back in the day.

Probably my favorite game from the 1980s.

I really must have this.

I would be impressed if someone put out a modern Gradius cabinet. But that's a Konami license. I'm not sure they would want to get on board with these kinds of re-releases.

A DIY project might be fun, but the only hardware options for those are strictly emulation, and emulation adds too much input latency.

Walked into Target tonight and there was the Marvel arcade on sale for $250.

Sigh

But those sounds take me back to the 90s arcade :D

Several people are reporting that the TMNT Arcade1Up has been heavily discounted at some Walmarts. Anyone know the SKU or UPC to look it up on brickseek?

I’d jump on that for 150. I just picked up the Star Wars one for $400 on Saturday. I’ve been thinking about the Marvel one, but after assembling the SW one, I don’t know how comfortable two people can be playing at once.

I was just at Walmart and saw the TMNT display. It was $349.

There’s a few in my state that sold them for $200 apparently, but those stores sold out. My local ones all have them for 349 like dex said.

They go pretty fast in populated areas because of how easy it is to find which stores are having them on sale.

Re: Arcade 1UP

The Pac-Man 1UP is showing on many WMs for $200 or less on clearance.

Mike86 01-04-20 12:47 PM

Re: Arcade 1UP

These are cool but at the same time I feel like if I bought one it would just be something else taking up space that I’d rarely use. I wish the Turtles game would just re-release on a modern console.

Saw the Ghost N Goblins one for $199 at a local WM. Does anyone know the SKU for the Marvel one to see if they have on sale at any WM?

https://deals.consolekits.com/ is a pretty handy meta-search for all things Arcade 1Up.

Looks like the Marvel SKU is 347736344

Various Arcade 1UP cabinets have been leaked: Marvel vs. Capcom/X-Men vs. Street Fighter, NBA Jam, Pac-Man, Star Wars, & more

Among the leaks is a digital pinball machine. A seated Star Wars setup is exciting, if...geez, I shudder to think of the price.

Toddarino 01-05-20 10:55 PM

I’ve been waiting to get an original Burgertime since it’s my favorite arcade game. That 1up version would be real tempting since it’s like 1/3 the cost.

Another Pac-Man?

Looks like Big Buck Hunter. That could be cool. I had a lot of fun with friends at a local bar with that game.

majorjoe23 01-05-20 11:12 PM

Re: Arcade 1UP

NBA Jam would be pretty sweet, but I recently got a Frogger cabinet and I don’t know if my wife would be keen on me having another.

Re: Arcade 1UP

So the Pinball Machine is a Pinball FX3 one with the Universal titles (i.e. No licensed music). Still would be cool.

I am remodeling my office and would love to have one of these in the waiting room for the kids to play, but am worried they might break it pretty quickly.

Re: Arcade 1UP

According to brickseek, deals.consolekits.com, and even walmart.com, a Walmart in my area has Rampage / Joust / Gauntlet / Defender on clearance for $75! When I went there, they had a few Pac-Mans, TMNT, and others, but not Rampage. I asked and I got about halfway through my sentence when she said, "I'm sorry, we're all out as of about a week ago. They were marked down and went instantly."

Bummer, I can afford that price for something like this. I love Joust.

Draven, they had that one at the Walmart in Fridley today but I can't remember the price, sorry. I'm thinking it was at least $199.

Burgertime would be awesome. One of the few arcade games I still enjoy playing once in awhile.
