Re: Arcade 1UP
Just got an email about some new machines coming. Time Crisis is SPENDY but that's pretty much a must-purchase for me. I loved that game and those lightguns in the arcade. And the Atari 50th will satisfy my wife's love of Centipede (which I currently only have as Countercade).

Re: Arcade 1UP
I'm definitely excited about Time Crisis and love that Point Blank is included too (although I would have loved Point Blank 2 also). I'll keep an eye on sales up through black friday on this one though. If Kohl's were to sell it with 30% Kohl's cash, I'd definitely grab it.
There is already a Centipede cabinet with the same games, but without the bonus Atari 2600 games, which is much more attractive art wise. |
Re: Arcade 1UP
Time Crisis will be mine, but like Perry I’m waiting on a sale. I was able to snag T2 for less than $200 and will wait until I can get Time Crisis at close to that price.

That Centipede cabinet is a re-release, right? I got the Countercade when I couldn't find the full-size version without paying a premium. I kind of like the retro look of the Atari one.
This new Atari 50 model for 2023 adds the 2600 games. If you don't mind the cabinet art, it's probably the best version to own. Tempest is my favorite cabinet by far, love the analog controls for Centipede, Missile Command, and Tempest. |
Re: Arcade 1UP
... but it's all done through emulation, correct? With lag. There aren't any MOS-6507s or Intel 8080 CPUs in those cabinets.
Or is the magic accomplished by means of FPGA-based cores as the MISTer did? With no lag and 100% cycle accurate. |
Re: Arcade 1UP
It would be nice if Arcade 1Up could get some new licenses.
Seems like like they just keep re-releasing the same handful of Atari, Namco, and Midway games in different cabinets and combinations with ever-increasing prices. Love to see them put out a Donkey Kong/Donkey Kong Jr/Donkey Kong 3/Mario Brothers cabinet. (Good luck getting Nintendo to allow that!) And one with Taito games like Space Invaders, Phoenix, Jungle Hunt, Elevator Action, etc. I'd also like to see a Deluxe Space Invaders cabinet with the cut scenes, color shading effect, and the mirrored background like the old arcade cabinet. And there are plenty of other older games, too, like Moon Patrol, Spy Hunter, Zaxxon, Q*Bert, Pleiades, and Frogger that I'd like to see. As it stands, we have the Tempest Legacy cabinet, Ms. Pac-Man 40th, and Defender 40th, and that's all we really need. Aside from the original Pac-Man and Lunar Lander, those seem to cover just about everything they offer from the classic 80s coin-up cabinets. Wouldn't mind getting the Tron cabinet, but it's ridiculously expensive for one game. |
Re: Arcade 1UP
That exact Donkey Kong lineup has been my dream for a while.

Space Invaders was an early cabinet for them, but I think a Taito legacy version is likely and would definitely pick that up if released. Frogger was already released and has been readily available, but hopefully will show up in a future Konami Legacy with games like Contra and Gyruss added in. But for new releases, I'm still waiting for a good price on Dragon's Lair before I pick that up, and Time Crisis will be a must own for me since Point Blank is one of my favorite shooters. Big Buck Hunter is getting a re-release which I'm thinking about, I didn't really play it much in the arcade, but I think it would be a fun game to have in my collection. T2 has been a great addition to my arcade for casual gamers, and I think BBH will be the same. I definitely would pick up a Donkey Kong machine, and I would throw in Popeye in there too. |

A Konami one would be nice. Since I generally associate Konmai with the NES, it's easy to forget they did a bunch of coin-op cabinets back in the day, too. I think Gyruss is the only one I ever saw. |
Re: Arcade 1UP
I haven't been following Arcade 1UP much, but based off this thread I decided to check out their site, and OMG look at this damn MS Pac man machine!!!
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...7100f1178a.png only $300??? That is super tempting ... |
Re: Arcade 1UP
QVC had those PartyCades for less than half that a couple months back (around $130), but it looks like that was a closeout sale and they’re all gone now. :(

Re: Arcade 1UP
The Frogger release wasn't as widely available as the other machines if I am remembering correctly.
I already have Centipede from the 12-in-1 release from a few years ago(Best Buy) along with the Space Invaders cabinet that my brother found for $75 at a Walmart. I'm still wanting to pick up one with Galaga as I love that game. Time Crisis and Big Buck Hunter are two of my biggest wants. Just have to find a decent price on them. |
Re: Arcade 1UP
Okay seriously, WTF is this?
|
Re: Arcade 1UP
Whoa! Did not expect a WOF Arcade 1UP cabinet.
|
Re: Arcade 1UP
That’s like a slap in the face. You win! Nothing!

Re: Arcade 1UP
Yeah, I don't quite understand the gameplay aspect of it, but knowing me, the first sale on it, and I'll be posting a photo of it here.

Re: Arcade 1UP
If I had a real collection of these i’d definitely pick it up. It’s unique.
Here I’m happy that my new place has enough space for 1 or 2 more. Need to pick up a fighting game. Will probably either save a bit for marvel vs capcom 2 or wait until the next iteration of street fighter 2 comes out. |
Re: Arcade 1UP
I'll admit I've put too much time into mobile slot games. Don't know if I'd buy a physical slot machine though lol

They're sort of fun to play every now and then. And keep me in practice when I do actually hit a casino IRL. What really gets me about them, though, is that they all allow you to buy extra chips/cash to bet with. But you can't win actual money on these games, it's all play money. It's like buying extra lives or weapons in a video game. And I don't get this at all. Is someone really buying these $99 bundles of "chips" to play with? -ohbfrank- |
Re: Arcade 1UP
I get playing/practicing any of those games with fake money but doing so with poker has always seemed crazy to me as playing with people who have nothing to lose will, if anything, make you a worse player.

Re: Arcade 1UP
Yeah, poker isn't a game of pure chance like most other casino games. You do stuff like bluffing and reading other players, which you can't do in something like blackjack which is strictly numbers game. The player has decisions to make, but the dealer has to stand at 17. And you can't freak out a roulette wheel.
Which is why there are professional poker players instead of professional baccarat players. |
Re: Arcade 1UP
Pac-Man XL finally showed up at my local Costco, I picked it up over lunch. Even though this unit is significantly larger than a standard 1up both in width/height and the monitor size, the packaging is pretty compact and was much easier to load into the back seat of my sedan. Significant overlap of games with my Class of 81 Ms Pac-Man / Galaga unit, but I'll get 6 new Pac-Man games not on the Ms Pac Man.
