What pissed me off was that you couldn't even use the stupid thing as a melee weapon. Instead, you have your fists, which can't do shit.

A few other posters here that didn't like the game said it eventually grew on them as well, but they still didn't sound too positive about it. I admit, it does seem to "improve" a bit around the time you make it to the UAC complex, but that's pretty close to halfway through the game. It shouldn't take that long for someone to like a game. My beef with it is the over reliance on using sub-weapons and glory kills to refill health/armor/ammo and arena battles where they throw a bunch of heavy demons at you. Honestly, this game feels like it was made by a completely different group than who made Doom 2016. The levels all kinda look the same (city ruins/medieval-looking castle/caves), the enemies look too cartoony (some of them I can't even tell what they are), the weird platforming stuff, the weapon/suit upgrades. All in all, to me it doesn't feel like Doom, it feels like someone put a Doom skin over a generic shooter. Still, I'm going to attempt to finish it.

I will heartily agree that Doom 2016 was a much better game.

That being said, this one does improve when you're loaded with all the weapons and can pretty easily get ammo and armour. I've enjoyed replaying the levels much more than the original playthrough.

In related news, they've released a patch for the Super Gore Nest master level. There were a shitload of progression bugs. I played it twice and got stuck after the first section, due to one of the bugs. They claim that it's fixed, now, so I'll give it another shot.

You should put this in it's own post, instead of here. More eyes are likely to see it.

I actually sent the Forum Moderator a message yesterday about doing a 'Sticky" on say....Upcoming Releases....that way put stuff in and come around release then start a thread on it. We have Game Deals, What You're Playing in the Month, console Stuff...but nothing really on Announce and Upcoming Games.....I'll wait and see what he has to say but threw this in here for now since it's close to that...Doom Style....Thanks...

Looks pretty good!

Anyone know who's narrating the trailer? He sounds very familiar.

^ is this like a full game? It’s only $34 for XBX. Do you have to have any knowledge whatsoever of Warhammer, which I think is an big online game?

Doom Eternal Team Cancels Planned Mode, Promises a Different One

Id Software has announced that it will not move forward with the multiplayer Invasion mode for Doom Eternal. Instead, the developer has announced that it is working on a new single-player Horde mode for the critically-acclaimed first-person shooter.

In a statement shared on the official id Software Twitter account, executive producer Mary Stratton cited several contributing factors for the team canceling Invasion mode, including how development on the mode was slowed down due to the team working remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Stratton also notes that additional factors included how previously released updates for Doom Eternal had been met with positive reception from players.

Doom Eternal's Invasion mode was originally announced at QuakeCon 2018, with the mode slated to launch as a post-launch free update. The mode would have allowed players to play as demons and invade other player's campaigns, similar to how Soulsborne titles like the 2020 remake of Demon's Souls, which allow you the opportunity to invade another player's world.

Alongside the cancellation of Invasion mode and a new single-player Horde mode, Stratton also confirmed in the post that Doom Eternal would also receive a "refresh" of the multiplayer Battlemode that will include a more "competitive, rank-based structure" alongside a new map and various tweaks to gameplay and balance. id Software is expected to share more details on the new Horde Mode, and Battlemode refreshes at this year's QuakeCon.

Lol, so, recently I bought this (with the Pass) in a sale. Turns out I started playing it a year ago, I guess on Game Pass. I got much further along - I actually finished a level. Of course I'm playing on Please Don't Hurt Me [I got nothing to prove.]. And I'm still getting hurt. I haven't died from the baddies yet, but I've had some close calls - my only deaths have been stupid platforming stuff.
It's very pretty (well, in a horrifying way) and fun. Love the modernized classic Doom soundtrack.

Re: Doom Eternal (3/20/20: PC, PS4, XB1, Switch, Stadia)

Damn these Demons are fucking pissed! Finished up the DLC today. It looks great, sounds great and love the environments, but they added 2-3 times of demons :mad2:
So people that couldn't handle with the regular game story probably won't want to play this, and I played the DLC and the campaign on the easiest. It's definitely a real good DLC cause they added Sentinel Hammer which I love. They also added like 8 new enemies/variants (my favorite being the Armored Baron and I hate the damn Screecher) and Escalation Encounters which are nuts. And since everyone loved the platforming -rolleyes-, lets add Meat Hook grappling point to fucking swing and fall and fail many times. Oh that that fucking last boss can kiss my ass. Regenerate this! Anyways love this game and the dlc and @ $7.50, its a steal!

Fuck the first dlc is hard. So many enemies and all types all at once. I’m on wimpy and I’m getting ass kicked.

^This is why I haven't bothered. There's making a game more difficult by adding tougher enemies, and then there's just throwing a bunch of shit at you, at once or constantly, to overwhelm you.

As much as I love the game, that doesn't make the DLC worthwhile, to me.

There's a fine line between a game's difficulty being challenging and being annoying. For me, Doom Eternal frequently fell on the annoying side of that line and from what I've heard about the DLC, it's not any better.

Re: Doom Eternal (3/20/20: PC, PS4, XB1, Switch, Stadia)

The funniest thing about the core game is that as you get close to the end and including the end.....it gets easier - you just don't notice because of how fast everything is thrown at you.

I don't get why they made the game as tough as it is. Yeah, I get it, a lot of you like that sort of think but that's what difficulty levels are for.

This game is f'n beautiful - really great looking game. Unfortunately the weapons don't match how badass Doom guy is - they all fall flat.

This wasn't my type of game because of the repetitiveness but I never beat a Doom game and wanted to playthrough at least one of them.

Once I saw that they make you fight two Marauder's at the same time in the DLC - I decided I was out.

Not only that but can't remember if its the only time or 2nd time u face both, they are buffed by that new damn enemy. So quadruple the frustration :hairpull:

I have been playing the PS5 version of this as I've been waiting for price drops on other games and i forgot how difficult these games are before you get back into the run and gun mode and upgrade your weapons. The first time you see some of these demons with very low powered weapons is a little rough. Having a blast though.
