I’m a huge fan, but I noticed a couple of troubling things.
The unscanned objects are green. They used to be red, then blue once scanned. I am likely to get this screwed up. 😀
Missiles are on the D-pad. Does this mean there will not be multiple guns? My God, please let there be multiple guns. 😧

It's still there! Take this URL and change the order number to what you see in your confirmation email:

Code:

Since I preordered this more than 6 years ago (!), I can't browse to this on my list of orders, and the link in the confirmation email no longer works, but when I plug in the order number directly:

https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...a83f76f19f.png

Interesting. I was able to pull up my preorder by updating the link, but when I click on the item in the order, it's been removed from the website. If they don't keep the same SKU for it, I wonder if they'll honor preorders.

It’s funny, the guy who started the thread, not being able to play seems ironic.

Well, this won't be a launch title. Release window is Oct this year. I have to assume it will be released on both consoles.

That was a really underwhelming showing in today’s Nintendo Direct.

What was it? They teasted a big multi-system third party title.

I meant the new footage of Metroid Prime 4. There wasn't really anything in the Direct I could point to as a big multi-system third-party title.

I agree. I'm sure it will be great. But it just doesn't look very impressive to me. The environment seems bland, the graphics look decidedly last gen (whatever that means). The gameplay looks the same with nothing new.

Again, I'm sure it will be great and when it all comes together with the music, story and gameplay it will be a nice presentation. But with what we've seen it does look a bit lackluster.

Yeah, I'll get it and probably love it but Nintendo is really fighting the fact that HD is here to stay. Beyond looks like a sequel to Corruption if Corruption came out 5 years ago, not the almost 20 year gap we have. For comparison, Halo 3 came out about the same time as Corruption and Beyond looks worse than that.

Also, what a boring ass reveal with a lame voice over explaining things. This is their "Halo" sci-fi franchise. Give me an epic trailer that reintroduces 3D Samus to the world. And since I brought it up, reminder of what a real announcement is:

Also, they need to lose the 4 in the title. It's cumbersome and unnecessary and design-wise looks out of place in the logo.

re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (12/4/2025; Switch, Switch 2)

That's what I'm worried about with the Switch 2. I really doubt it if it will be 4K. But on the other hand it not being in 4K is really working in Nintendo's advantage in terms of cost savings for producing games. They don't have the out of control budgets that other studios do chasing pixels. And games like Pikmin 4 and Breath of the Wild (which was last gen) are still incredible graphics wise and especially presentation wise with the full package in the character design, music, gameplay etc. So it would be nice if we could get much better looking games but I fully trust Nintendo especially on these mainline games.

re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (12/4/2025; Switch, Switch 2)

Not every series needs to "chase pixels" though. Zelda has had all kinds of art styles. Why not have a current gen level art style? The aforementioned Metroid is a no brainer. That's two of their dozens of franchises that they could dip their toes into the HD era without breaking the bank.

tanman 03-28-25 10:05 PM

re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (12/4/2025; Switch, Switch 2)

I think I agree with what you're saying. They generally do well with not pursuing graphical fidelity but with Metroid Prime it would be nice if they threw everything they had to make the best presentation possible.

Especially since back in the day the original Metroid Prime was just that. A graphical power house on their most powerful system (compared to the competition) back when they did chase pixels and still tried to be on the cutting edge of visual presentation. Hell, the MP remaster still looks amazing > 20 years later that's how great of a job Retro did.

MP 4 just kind of looks meh.

Available for Pre-Order. $59.99. Not showing up as a Voucher game yet, but I assume it will be.
$10 for the Switch 2 upgrade, which is just a technical one, like Zelda -- no new content. No announcement of free upgrade with Nintendo Online Expansion Pack, as far as I can see, but that seems reasonable to expect.

Cover art comparison. if Best Buy honors my ancient Switch preorder with the GCU discount, I’d rather just pay the $10 for the Switch 2 upgrade and enjoy the better artwork and price tag.

Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (12/4/2025; Switch, Switch 2)

I don’t get it. I preordered the game of course, but when I went to just purchase the upgrade it said I already had the same content. I just preordered the regular, don’t think there was another option. But, why can’t I buy the upgrade?

Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (12/4/2025; Switch, Switch 2)

Best Buy emailed me a release date update for my preorder from January 2020. If the GCU 20% discount holds, I’ll just keep that.

lol seriously???

They cancelled mine a long time ago.

Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (12/4/2025; Switch, Switch 2)

Yup, my preorder from May 2018 with the GCU discount is still active. The only way I can even find it is to search my order history for the order number. It’s too old to appear in any other way. My BB order doesn’t have a release date — just says “We'll let you know when it ships.” — but the correct cover art is appearing.

I'm just going to use one of my two remaining vouchers. That way I can share the game with my son in college. Besides, there isn't much coming in the future to use remaining vouchers on.
