Re: God of War (4/20/18- PS4)
Never played any of the past God of War games but from what I've read they're saying don't even go there and compare...it's been revamped all over. I did look at some gameplay and some with DEV comments and become interested. The combat is just a thrill ride. I was telling someone about the video and said, "not too many games out there where you can smash one with your Axe, throw it at another, bash someone's face in with your fist and then pulverize another with your shield in all but 10 seconds"......that wasn't just good combat...that was FUN combat....

Embargo for reviews is up. 94 so far on Metacritic, with a lot of 9 and 10's. Sounds like another hit!

Looking forward to it!

Comes out on 4/20 so I can imagine it will be another Hit from the bong for some of the home bound stoners out there.

Re: God of War (4/20/18- PS4)
I'd gotten pretty bored with the series, but the Norse setting piqued my interest. Based on the reviews, I went ahead and cashed out a bunch of RZ certs from Best Buy and put in a preorder. Sounds like a pretty significant step forward for a series that, at least to me, had gotten fairly monotonous.

Re: God of War (4/20/18- PS4)
I needed to burn some vacation days, so I took off Friday and Monday to get some time in. This is one of my most anticipated games this year (along with RDR2), so I'm glad it's getting crazy high review scores.

Re: God of War (4/20/18- PS4)
I was going to get this...never played any of the others but grabbed Far Cry 5 instead...and no regrets there but yesterday I was checking several game sites which many had their reviews up. After looking at five sites including Gameinformer, Gamespot, IGN and two PS4, the numbers were....10, 10, 10, 10 & 9.75.

That was a pretty lousy unboxing. Could barely examine the statue. What's the rush?
I'm looking forward to getting it (though I've run out of room on my statue shelf in my office. Will have to reorganize and probably "retire" Max Payne). |
Re: God of War (4/20/18- PS4)
I played 1 & 2. There were decent, if not repetitive. It's just a series that never won me over. It doesn't help that I'm not a fighting game fan so the endless combos just detracted from my enjoyment a bit.
That disclaimer aside, the positive reviews, Norse mythology and revamped nature of it has me really intrigued. I'm in the middle of FC5 right now, but I might have to keep my eye on this one. |
Re: God of War (4/20/18- PS4)
You should check out the remastered version of GoW3 on PS4. They did a great job with it and it's been on sale a few times on PSN as low as like $6.

Re: God of War (4/20/18- PS4)
Bought it digitally; the 20% Far Cry coupon from a few weeks back plus cheap PS Store credit that I posted a week ago ($40 worth for $30) made for a great bargain. Downloading now!
I still never finished GoW3 after loving 1 and 2, but oh well :p |
Re: God of War (4/20/18- PS4)
My Amazon copy was delivered and now all I can think about is leaving work.

Re: God of War (4/20/18- PS4)
You guys are still buying physical copies of games? (I guess if you plan on selling them back for pennies on the dollar that makes sense...), but I had the game downloaded and ready to go early last night... not that I had the time to play it. Maybe late tonight.

Gonna grab a copy of this tomorrow. Really looking forward to it. I loved the first 3 games, and this sounds like its even better.

Re: God of War (4/20/18- PS4)
I get physical copies of games that both my son and I like to play. That way neither of us is tied to the other's username when playing, also it is actually much cheaper to buy through Amazon prime than to buy the digital version which is insane to me but it is a fact.

I picked up my CE copy this morning. The statue is easily one of the best ones yet, the detail is amazing.
I'm only a few hours in and I can see why it's getting such high remarks. This is one of the best looking most polished games I've ever played. The combat is satisfying (I'm playing on hard) and the story has me hooked. Early contender for GOTY. |

I had a bunch of Best Buy Rewards stacked up, so I got this for $0.52. |
Re: God of War (4/20/18- PS4)
I've done the math, and I don't use Prime's perks enough for it to be worth it for me...
