Has this been a really loaded Fall 2017?

i know we have these threads sometimes, but maybe me, but seems there are so many releases so recently. not to mention new XBOX.

so many that i bought and will enjoy sometime. i forgot about CoD:WWII. between Super Mario Odyssey, Battlefront II, Wolfenstein, Destiny 2, Assassin's Creed: Origins, Shadow of Mordor, South Park, others...

it just seems like it has been really busy Fall thus far, especially within weeks of one another. i've never been so interested in so many games at once.

is it just me?

Hidden Agenda also came out. I gotta get cracking on that this weekend along with starting Assassin's Creed and Wolfenstein II, as well as trying to finish South Park.

It's always subjective but for my gaming tastes, it's easily one of the worst years of recent memory. Middle Earth: Shadow of War is the only game that's getting my money.

Far Cry 5 getting bumped cleared up the rest of my anticipated list.

Had I bitten on a Switch, Mario would have been #3 and even then, three games does not make for a "Loaded" Fall.

Yea it has and on the face of it, it's great except some hard choices on what not to get......with Black Friday it's probably going to be a mega bonanza.

Re: Has this been a really loaded Fall 2017?

Honestly all Falls these days are "loaded". Certainly yesterday with three AAA titles all coming out on the same day (Fridays are becoming the new Tuesdays for big game releases) makes it feel this way. But this Fall doesn't feel that special to me. No big PS4 or Xbox exclusive game this season (excluding nothing-special racing games). It's pretty disappointing especially since there is an upgraded Xbox One coming out. Without a doubt a new 3D Mario title is a big deal, but beyond that, we are looking at a bunch of sequels -- and only Destiny 2 could really be considered "highly anticipated " (Oldboy's constant fawning over Wolfenstein 2 notwithstanding).
I think if another big title that doesn't see an annual sequel had made it out for the PS4 and Xbox One like Red Dead Redemption 2 or Far Cry 4, or if a big, highly anticipated first party title like Crackdown 3 or Last of Us 2 were out this season, I think it would have felt like a much bigger Fall than it ended up being this year.

I think it's loaded, especially with the 27th being one of the biggest single day of releases in awhile with Mario, Wolfenstein, and AssCreed all being well reviewed to boot.

If you take away Mario it's average at best. I feel like I'm being gaslighted that CoD and AssCreed are going in new directions when they seem like every other iteration. Wolfenstein 2, South Park, Shadow of Mordor, Battlefront 2, and Destiny 2 all seem good if you're a fan of the respective franchises but nothing to change your mind if you aren't.

Re: Has this been a really loaded Fall 2017?

I think it's been a good year for games, but not a strong end to a good year. Fall is all about sequels, no new IP. So "loaded," sure, just like every other fall. But a strong showing of new IP's or new interesting ideas and direction? No.
