Nice, that’s good to hear. What games do you have so far? (Aside from BotW, I have that on Wii U).

Working on a project at a local pizza joint, bellied up to the bar with a laptop. A mom took a seat and said her 11-year-old and his friend were at Gamestop a couple stores down, waiting for the 11:00pm "midnight release." I love Mario games but haven't thought for a while about how popular he is with kids. Guess my mind is retro on that.

I am not sure if i have ever played a game that i would consider 10/10 as that implies perfection, and no game has ever been that. I give high scores to games like some of the Elder Scrolls series, Counter Strike, some of the GTA entries, Unreal Tournament, Horizon: Zero Dawn, The Witcher series.
I am not saying this game isn't probably great. I just think that no game really deserves a perfect score.

I actually really liked Mario Sunshine. For some reason a lot of people have shit on it over the years and not sure why.
Oh, and i dont play online multiplayer COD/Destiny/GOW/whatever. Nearest i ever got to that was Unreal Tournament and Counter Strike, and not played either of those in a few years.

Speaking of which, how was Galaxy 2? I bought and played it a little, but it seemed almost exactly like the first one, except with a SMB 3 style overworld.

Of the games you mentioned Galaxy is the closest to a 10. Mario 64 i always found over rated. I found its world very empty. As for the old platformers, well they are good, but these games are very simple in their gameplay and i find most platform games to be too similar and little variation. Not bad games, just do what they set out to do....and thats it. I like games that are more immersive in their world and allow more freedom.

Funny as Super Mario Galaxy is one of my least favorite of the 3D Mario games actually. I remember getting frustrated with the motion controls on it a lot. I should go back to it though as I’ve never finished it.

I don't actually recall ever having issues with the motion controls in it, oddly enough.

I'm having a hard time remembering the motion controls in Galaxy at all.

This game does use motion controls in single player with both controllers, but you can probably get by without using them.
You can do some more nuanced cap tossing by gesturing up, down, or to the side. Shaking the controllers while climbing flagpoles etc speeds up the movement. Controlling other creatures uses motion controls to augment the action buttons, for example when possessing a frog, you can jump higher with a controller shake than a button push.
One thing I like about this game vs. previous 3D mario games (I'm thinking of Mario 64 specifically) is that you remain in the level when you get the power moons

This game is fantastic so far. It feels so alive and has a sense of fun and adventure. The music is great, the motion controls are fun to use and work well, Cappy could have easily turned into an annoying gimmick but is a fun sidekick. The game environments are very pretty to look at and Mario and the gang are all looking great. This is the game that defines the Switch so far in my opinion, even more so than Breath of the Wild. I foresee myself playing this game for a long time.

The motion control actually works pretty decent with the pro controller. I'm not too far in (just beat the rabbit lady that throws bomb on the upside down pyramid), but enjoying it so far.

I planned on only playing for an hour or so tonight and I ended up playing for 4. It's everything I hoped for. I'm almost at 100 moons already.

I’ve already put about five hours in. A lot of time I was just messing around and exploring. Such a good game so far. I’m at forty moons.

I went all over town looking for the new Mario, Peach and Bowser Amiibos. I finally found them at GameStop and bought the last three pack they had in stock.
