Lawbreakers - 8/8/17 - PS4 & PC

New game from Cliff Bleszinski (Gears of War fame). Multiplayer only and looks pretty damn good for $30. Beta coming soon. PS4 & PC only for now.

Digital only but Limited Run is doing a small print of physical copies starting at $39.99

Spoiler:

Some gameplay video

I saw the trailers and gameplay and while it looked good, I honestly think I'd get dizzy and have my head spinning after 30 minutes...it is basically 360° combat and the pace is fast. Characters seem good and concept too. It will be a wait and se on this and what crowd it gathers

Anyone picking this up today? I signed up for the beta but never got a code, but I'll watch some reviews later once they are posted.

Studio is shutting down. I wonder if Cliffy B will return to Gears in the future. Since he's been gone for awhile, he might have some fresh ideas.

That's too bad. At least there are plenty of other developers in the Triangle, so hopefully their staff will be able to land jobs at Epic, Red Storm, Insomniac, etc.

That is too bad....Being Cliffy B, I'm sure he surrounded himself with solid talent. Lawbreakers....the concept may have been meant to be good, but in today's gaming world it boils down to what everyone is flocking to and it takes a few bugs, quirks, turn-offs and despite how a game plays & looks; no-one will play it.

Never quite understood the deal with Epic, Cliffy B, MS and GoW francise......it was the other bookend of the 360 console along with Halo. And frankly to this day still one of my all time favorite if not the best games I played with the most fun...and sadly there has not been anything that came close. You just cannot replace guns w/Chainsaws, stomping heads in with various executions and the game that put Horde on the map. Cannot tell him or anyone else what to do...I'd be looking at GoW as a foundation for a next game...great SP, co-op, story, MP and Horde Mode....that recipe sold a lot of games....and looking back, you didn't have some crate, loot box, crafting, reward issues plaguing current games ....you just had a good solid fun game....

What's there to understand? Cliffy left the company independently after Gears 3. And a few years later Epic decided to sell the IP to Microsoft. Brings back to mind your confusion in this thread.

Wasn't Radical Heights starting to gain some traction as well? I heard a couple podcasts mention it and they seemed to like it, even in it's early access stage. Hopefully they are offering refunds for the people that bought that founders pack since the game has only been out a few weeks. I wonder if that was their last ditch effort to keep the studio open a bit longer.

He's been posting concept art for Boss Key games that were never to be:
