This version feels a bit more tempting than the NES one. My wife would rather just buy these games on the Virtual Console, but that's one of those things that tends to fall by the wayside. I feel like buying something like this and having it there would give you more impetus to pick it up and try the games (especially StarFox 2).

Our Christmas plan is to get a Switch as a family gift for ourselves, but if somebody were to get us one of these, I wouldn't say no.

I hate the redundant L/R buttons on the keypad area. I'll wait for a better alternative.
Hate the layout? That's supposed to be the selling point (besides wireless). It's a Street Fighter layout.

So you buy this controller just to play SFIIT?

No, but it's a plus for that game vs. the controllers in the box. Regardless, I don't see how having six buttons on the face is a bad thing.

The funny thing is I *still* have muscle memory for these classic controllers. I play my NES all the time and it's like I never stopped. I imagine it will be the same for me with the SNES. I am a big user of the side of my thumb for side by side buttons so the other buttons would get in my way. Plus, don't most people consider the SNES controller pretty much the best controller design ever for 2D gaming?

Yeah, to me the SNES controller is perfect as is dor 2D gameplay. And speaking of 2D gameplay, I just got Sonic Mania to tide me over until the system gets here.

So is there really any chance of getting one of these Friday morning? I really can't camp out all night if that's what people are doing.

If the stock numbers really are near 300/store, then yeah. But it'll likely vary area to area.

Not holding my breath - all Targets near my home and work show zero saleable units available.

Maybe the next ship batch...

I'm expecting all the Targets to get them in overnight tomorrow. No way that many stores have nothing for launch.

The numbers do seem high enough that you might not have to camp out. Get there two to three hours early, yeah. But camping is just nuts.

I think Target may be hiding the numbers from Brickseek or their API, as it's not for sale yet.

Walmart just updated our local numbers, from "Wait until closer to launch" to about 28 - 35 per store, a few Targets here are showing between 50 and 70.

A few Targets near me started updating as well. I'm seeing around 65 to 100. My game plan is to head up there about 15 minutes early and scope out the line. That way I can see if it's worth hanging out until open.

I was REALLY hoping that some of the stores would open online ordering one more time today, since I'm sure some credit cards will decline and whatnot. But I'm thinking that might be a slim chance or those will go up at midnight to 2am again.

All of my local Walmarts are now updated as well. Anywhere between 20 - 55. Lame.

So not completely surprising, but the innards of this are exactly the same as the NES Classic. Same motherboard and everything.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...-nes-mini-tech

Which might make sense why they stopped NES classics to switch manufacturing over to these, and why they can easily bring back the NES classic next year. Just a software update to the emulator. Which also could mean it will be just as easy to hack and load more roms.

I have the morning off tomorrow. I might go to a store or two.

Yeah, can't wait to update this to contain every single SNES game ever released, including Japanese-only games.

My friends and I will probably head to Wal-mart around midnight. I think there will be more than enough supply, but it was fun last time when we did it for the NES classic. I'm going to try to get a few, not to resell. These would be good Christmas gifts.

Now Brickseek is showing "Unknown" for all the Targets in my area, whereas yesterday it was showing 0.

Target is less than 10 minutes from my house and opens at 8. My kids get on the bus to school at 7:30. I think I will swing by after that, scope out the line and try my luck.

My delivery estimate is now Tuesday...WTF. Better late than never, but how hard is release date delivery.

Just got this email from Best Buy:

Typically, they need stock in before release date so they can ship it to you. For CDs, DVDs, BDs, etc, they typically get stock in up to a week before release date.

For this console, they may not have received it until today/tomorrow, so can't ship it out until then. They could theoretically ship overnight, but they likely didn't charge you for that. Did they promise release-date delivery?

It wasn't promised, but I'm spoiled by Amazon (got this from Target).

However, it was shipped out on Tuesday and has been sitting in Arizona for a while (or just hasn't been updated). Some people who ordered from Best Buy apparently received theirs yesterday.
