Good idea. I have all kinds of retro collections on my various consoles, they'll do.Originally Posted by starseed1981

Well, that's disappointing. I have a Genesis and a bunch of games, but it doesn't seem to work with my 4KTV. I heard an adapter is needed. This would have been nice to have instead, especially if it could play real carts like real hardware. But this... sounds like garbage. Oh well.

Good God. What is it about third-party companies that they just refuse to do anything right?
I mean, if there was ONE case where AtGames had a mandate to measure up, it would be when they've designed a product to specifically go up against the successor to the NES Classic. They even seemed to be aware of the occasion with the tone of their marketing.
On the positive side, kudos to GS for actually running a headline reading "Do Not Buy". Mainstream reviews - even when strongly negative - tend to be quite political in their wording to avoid backlash. It's refreshing to see a high-profile site print exactly what is deserved.

The problem is companies like At Games just buy up licensing rights to these dead brands and put out a half assed product because it's an easy impulse buy for the uneducated consumer who just sees a Genesis with a bunch of games. Say what you will about Nintendo but they still actually exist as a company and though they make puzzling decisions at times they usually make a high quality product because it's actually them behind it.

Oh no... they are faulty... it's just that the retail unit's will also be "faulty"
#34
I wonder if the previous SEGA console collections were also faulty.

LOL. I'll give benefit of the doubt and read the updated reviews, but it's pretty damn funny that quality control on their review units mirrors the quality control of their entire manufacturing history..
