I'm the opposite. The easier it disappears into the A/V rack the more boring it is. I want something sexy on my A/V rack not some boring rectangular boxes.

For the record I have actually never seen a Neo Geo in the flesh. No one I knew would pay for one when it was released lol.

I only knew one person that owned one. His brother paid for it and they had a bunch of games and would often take the special memory card to the arcade to play, I guess, at home.

Anyone care to add the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S or PlayStation 5 to the list of best or worst looking video game consoles?

The PS5 is just not attractive. It's not hideous, but it sets on our TV shelf just below my white Xbox One S, which just blows it away in design simplicity and sleekness.

The Switch Lite models have very cool and smooth lines, though they can be hard to hold with adult hands for long periods of time.

The Xbox Series X is a big black box that sits nicely anywhere and doesn't stand out and we like it like that.

I think Series X looks as bloated as I do. It fits well with my components, the black helps, but it’s an ugly big box to me.

comparing them all Atari was just a small old timey black thing. I think that was ugly. But, someone nailed it up there with Super Nintendo as worst and those cartridges were hideous. I loved my Dreamcast. Console and controller with that insert thingy.

I tend to prefer my consoles to look different than my electronic components so I like things like the NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Dreamcast, Xbox, 360 and PS5. So on the opposite end of the spectrum I think every Xbox since the 360 has been a boring mess bordering on ugly. The series X brick is horrendous. The original PS3 Foreman was terrible. But worst looking? I'd have to go back to the 2600... wood grain? I know it was the 70's but come on!

All the ‘70s electronics I remember had wood paneling - our IntelliVision, our first VCR, my mighty Micromoog…

It was one of the biggest busts ever, but the Jaguar was a fantastic looking system IMO. The cartridges were nice too.

Really? That controller was hideous.

Indeed it was, I was referring strictly to the console itself.

The wood grain 2600 is generally thought to be one of the best looking consoles of all time.

I know there was a lot of controversy with the design of the Gamecube at the time and even now. Even though it wasn't the sexiest of consoles noone can deny that the design of it was rather...neat. It was kind of cool how compact and square it was and having a handle built in was certainly different. It was a pretty easy console to take around with you and I remember I had one case that even took advantage of the handle and just had it sticking out the top of it. It is ironic that the last time that Nintendo was top dog in terms of horsepower compared to the competition was their most "kiddie" design.

Also I'm not sure why everyone is ragging on the design of the Wii. I think it's a very nice subtle apple like design. The fact that they mad the console so small too and the first time the standard controllers on a Nintendo console were wireless made it all the more sleek looking. Sure it was just a white box but it was a pretty drastic change from the design of the Gamecube and I think was a turning point in Nintendo maturing their audience from just kids to everyone. The first multigenerational video game console in large part.
