Reposting my comments from the PS4 thread, but i'm looking forward to this even though I'm one of the few who seemed to not think that much of the first game. One of the best stories i've played in a video game, but I thought the gameplay was such a slog to get through in the middle. Looks like it will be awhile though.

The first one was pretty much perfect and didn't need a sequel. But if they have a good story to tell then bring it on!

Loved the characters and story of The Last of Us (PS3) but won't be buying a PS4 just for one game. I'm a bit disappointed I won't see the end of this saga...

A sequel to one of the best story driven games ever made. Now my most anticipated game followed closely by the GoW reboot.

The God of War game isn't a reboot. It's another sequel.

They are calling it a soft reboot with the new game play. Hence why it's not called GoW 4. But yes, story wise it takes place after GoW 3.

I know I need to finish the first. Like other games I got going only to be sidetracked when something else came out. I have no idea where I am in the story since I've avoided all help and walkthrus.

I ordered the Collector's Edition this afternoon for $135 with GCU. The backpack is probably worth the extra $60/$48 with GCU, but I don't need it. Also it wasn't available at Best Buy to order (either that or it sold out immediately)

I never finished the first one and have made up my mind I'm going to start over from scratch and play thru that instead of getting more games. I already cancelled Ghost Recon: Breakpoint...doesn't feel like Wildlands II but may pick up The Outer Worlds. Looks like TLofU-II will be worth the wait.....

It sold out pretty fast (everywhere actually). I put in orders for all three versions at BB with GCU :lol: I figured I'll decide on which one I want as it gets closer.

EDIT: I just noticed that my preorder prices are a little fucked up. My collector's edition price w/ GCU is $127.99 (not $135.99) and my Ellie Edition is $199.99 (not $183.99 like it should be). I'm wonding how to get that fixed...

I'm very surprised Sony is releasing this ~6months before the PS5 drops. I thought this would be a release day game to showcase the PS5 for sure.

Why use it as a launch title for PS5 when the PS4 has an install base of 100+ million systems? On top of that, PS5 is backwards compatible, so even if someone is jumping in at that time they could still play it.

The original game did the same thing. Came out in June on PS3 and then the PS4 released a few months later in November.

They still have quarterly financial goals to hit.

I'm cautiously optimistic here. I didn't care for TLOU but will give it another shot before this launches, maybe it'll click.

I wound up ordering the special edition. I have no need for statues or backpacks.

Anyway, I'm glad these release dates are being announced. I can use of my GCU before it expires in December.

Second that...and plus that's going to be close to Dying Light 2 which some of us are set on no matter what.....I thought about restarting The Last of Us from scratch thinking this was hitting in Feb....well not sure now...

Well, with this being delayed and now targeted for end of May, sadly that delay and push back has also effected another high profile game that was scheduled...The Ghost of Tsushima....has now been pushed back because they don't want two high profile games to overlap so close. So it's said to be pushed to late summer/early fall.

It is an interesting predicament because we've never seen a major release of a AAA title during a pandemic before. I imagine Sony is watching the sales of Doom Eternal very closely to see how well it sells in physical copies. If it isn't moving as many units as expected, it might make sense to push the game back even if it's ready. Not much sense in stocking store shelves with copies of a game if the store isn't going to open.

Saw this coming with what' been going on around the world and about every gathering and convention being cancelled...it only makes sense because studios can't have people in to work on projects. This game and Ghost of Tsushima were on my Must buy list...I figure TGoT will be next. We talked about this last night and figure we have plenty on our plates plus we know deals will be around....oh well, is what it is...

I have to admit that I was considering not getting this one (or Ghost of Tsushima, which I'm assuming will also be delayed) at launch anyway, figuring it would play better on the PS5 and be cheaper by November anyway. So it'd just be a matter if I felt as if I could wait or not.
