So I only made it an hour or 2 into the first game, and have no plans of playing the second, but am curious, why is that girl so mad at people in the commercials I'm seeing constantly? (spoiler me!)

My copy arrived around noon on Saturday so much better than I expected.

It’s been so long since I bought a disc-based game that I didn’t expect it to have one “data disc” for install plus a play disc. Updates took maybe 90 minutes. PlayStation store says 78GB total.

Only got a brief play session yesterday and am hoping for more today.

The sounds Clickers make are absolutely terrifying

Curious about that too.

I agree it's terrifying. In portions of the game, I was starting to think I heard Clickers and started to freak out

Feel like I have spent my entire weekend playing this game. About 17-18 hours in. The last section I played was incredibly intense.

This game IS very intense, especially with the home theater surround sound cranked. My poor dogs have been scared shitless.

Re: The Last of Us: Part II (PS4, 6/19/20)

I love it. My wife watches while I play and gets scared from the sudden jump scares. The atmosphere is indeed great. The marking of places on the map. The bond between Ellie and Dina. And early in the game when we came to a locked door, I said out loud “jeez just break the window. I can’t believe games do this.” The next thing the tutorial said was break the window.

It’s the little things.

Anyway I just got to

Re: The Last of Us: Part II (PS4, 6/19/20)

I'm about 6 hours in. Probably due to just finishing the 1st game the other week, I'm already getting a bit bored. Every major play mechanic is the same. I know I'm early on but having the story not having to do with saving the world makes me less interested in what's happening. A revenge story isn't particularly new or interesting.

The Last of Us Part 2 Is Sony's Fastest-Selling Boxed PS4 Game in the UK

*Crash Bandicoot Voice* "Woah!"

Posted: 22 Jun 2020 2:43 amThe Last of Us Part 2 is Sony's fastest-selling boxed PS4 game in the UK, and the biggest UK boxed launch of 2020.

According to GamesIndustry.Biz, Naughty Dog's gritty sequel has beaten the previous record-holder Uncharted 4 by 1%, making it the fastest-selling PS4 game of the current generation in the UK. The UK sales charts do not include digital sales and, given the growth in digital sales in recent years, potentially means it's broken Sony's overall UK records too.

The Last of Us Part 2's boxed launch sales are also "76% higher" than 2013's The Last of Us. Lots of Naughty Dog records broken by... Naughty Dog.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons previously held the title for the biggest UK boxed launch this year, but this was also toppled by The Last Of Us Part 2 by a 40% margin.

I was hoping Ellie's invulnerability to getting zombified would play into the story somehow, but I guess it won't.

I will almost certainly need to get a general check up after this after so many tense encounters to see how many years have been lopped off my life, lol.

Re: The Last of Us: Part II (PS4, 6/19/20)

I'm really curious has there been any other game out there that has gotten a so-called user barrage of Bad Review Bombing like The Last of Us Part 2 simply because they had a personal grudge against the Devs, violence, dogs dying, the characters, the plot....over 30,000 ratings on Metacritic....scratch...now up to 57,000. For the heck of it I clicked a lot of so-called Users on their other reviews, about every one of them hadn't reviewed any other game....hmmm

Basically it's looks like they all did a copy & paste..."Bad Story...Bad Plot...Terrible Story.....Bad AI....Naughty Dog did false advertising....so-so to average gameplay...Great Graphics"

For the heck of it...I clicked a lot of users to see what other games they had reviewed

Can't even imagine what this game sounds like on a Home Theater Surround Sound system.

I only have a Soundbar and my blind cat jumps at some of the sounds sometimes.

I just passed the 20+ hour mark in the game. There is so much I want to talk to folks about but I don't want to spoil anything!

I almost want to look at spoilers to see where the story goes. If it's only revenge, I'm not sure I'll stick with it for now. I would go back to it eventually but the gameplay is still dull/easy. The story is what kept me playing the 1st.

That being said; guiding clickers into trip wires is kinda fun and wasn't in the first game. Otherwise, it's the same song & dance. Throw brick, sneak, spam Triangle to stealth kill, repeat.

So far from what I've seen, that's it. Not so much a spoiler though; it was established in the DLC for the first game.

Yeah, I haven't read anything about it beyond that. There may be more to it, but it doesn't seem like it.
There's also
Spoiler:
Vague references to fascists and maybe a cult

but I'm not very far in the game yet.

That seems to be it. I read a comment from someone my friend knows (about the game) and it was incredibly ignorant.

Even more so because they hadn't even played the sequel yet.

As Noonan mentioned, Ellie's sexual orientation is established in the DLC but this game brings it more into focus.

That's definitely what I believe is bothering everyone with low sloping foreheads.

I'm only an hour in... so I'm not saying it's good or bad BUT, I did fall asleep during the cut-scene between the guy with the beard and the girl you control after you have the snowball fight in the beginning.

Give it another hour or two and you'll reach the "real" beginning of the game.

I don't want to give it away here because I genuinely don't know the context of what I read before closing it, and I don't want to misrepresent what the game actually does with a particular side arc.
I'll post it here for Joe if/when I come to it in the game (unless someone else here gets there first, which is far more likely)

But, regardless of what what's about, the funny thing is all the "get woke, go broke" dweebs look particularly pathetic in light of the fact that this had turned out to be Sony's best game launch of the entire generation, topping Uncharted 4 by something like 1% I think I read.

Just finished the game. Wonderful experience. Wish it was longer.

Clocked in about 22 hours.

Hopefully after a short break, I'll then jump into the New Game+

Re: The Last of Us: Part II (PS4, 6/19/20)

I think this is one of those rare games where, if there's enough active discussion on this forum, we should have a separate unmarked spoiler thread where discussion can be more open for those who have finished it and want to talk about it more freely. I'm only at the point of
Spoiler:
Starting Seattle Day Two, which is right after

Spoiler:
The Museum flashback with Ellie & Joel

But the game has dropped enough hints about some of its themes, that I think it'll be very difficult to discuss in a thread without upsetting folks who come into the game much later for whatever reason.

Not saying we have to go that route, but we may want to consider it.

tl;dr: I HAVE THOUGHTS!

Re: The Last of Us: Part II (PS4, 6/19/20)

Has this game made anyone else dizzy while playing? I had no issue with the first but I've found myself starting to get a bit motion sick playing this one. I lowered the camera sensitivity down to 3 to try to help. It seems to happen mostly in the dark areas where you just have your flashlight.
