Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Rumblings of Virtual Console in tomorrow's Nintendo Direct... yeah, right.

Smash Bros. to come out this year, according to the Direct?

Yes. This year.

Stranger things have happened, but...yeah... |
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I thought the Direct was pretty good. I’ll pick up the Crash Trilogy and The Fractured But Whole. Also probably Mario Tennis Aces and the Captain Toad game. Oh and of course Smash. I’m not convinced it’s a port either. I think if it was they’d have just said it plus they’d probably have had footage to show.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Glad to see Octopath Traveller is coming soon. I'll probably be in for Mario Tennis too.
The Dark Souls Amiibo is funny. Its funny that for every article complaining about the Switch being all ports of old games, you find another article about how the Switch makes old games better (cause portable now!) or has people playing games they never would have played before. Nintendo seems to have struck a good balance between AAA first party, ports and indies. Now that its a bonafide success, I hope more publishers will start with original titles. |

One thing that slightly disappointed me is that they’re remaking Luigi’s Mansion but only on 3DS. I don’t see why that couldn’t be a Switch release too. |
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I like my Switch, but I still have close to zero interest in in third party titles on it. I'd still rather play those on my PS4, because I don't ever game on the go.

Not a bad Direct although I'm disappointed that these 3DS titles aren't coming to Switch. I would have loved to play a Luigi's Mansion remake. Super stoked for Captain Toad (one of my favorite Wii U games). |
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
See I’m the opposite. I play a lot more now with the Switch then I do on my Xbox One (which is pretty much a glorified streaming player for me). I actually like getting these third party ports as the Switch is my preferred console to play on. Love that I don’t have to be tied down to one spot to play it.

I want to be tied down to one spot when I'm playing games.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Sometimes I do but other times it’s nice to bring it to my room or outside or whatever. It’s nice to have options with the Switch.

$60 for Little Nightmares and Captain Toad are absolutely ridiculous. I paid $20 or less for those on other platforms, brand new.

I don't deny that sometimes it is nice to have some mobility option when gaming on occasions, but seriously, why would you wait to spend $60 on a game to play on the Switch when you could get the exact same game today for $17.99 on a more powerful system that you already own? :hscratch:

Captain Toad is $40 at Amazon. That's a little better.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I know the Wii U didn't sell very well, but what about the people who had one? It seems like Nintendo is porting over all the popular games over to the Switch. I have already bought those games one time, I have no interest in buying them again.
Case in point. My eight year old wanted Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for Christmas. Except for like four new characters, it basically the same game we played to death on the Wii U. I mean, they couldn't even be bothered to add new tracks to the game. And of course there was no announcement of a new Animal Crossing game. I can only hope they are keeping that news under wraps until the Holiday season approaches. |
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
It’s simple don’t buy the ports if you don’t want to. The reality is the Wii U didn’t sell great but had good games and it makes sense to port them to Switch which far more people own.

That being said, I can still see why so many people love the system. Especially for people that didn't pick up a Wii U. They are getting to experience a ton of great Wii U games for the first time. But other than Mario Odyssey, there hasn't really been any true exclusives that have been worth buying the system for. I guess I might check out that Mario Tennis game, I gotta play something else on this thing. |
