Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I'm pretty happy with the Switch announcements at E3. Super Mario Odyssey looks fantastic. Seems like it might be the most fun Mario game in a long time (I never got very into the Super Mario Galaxy games for whatever reason). Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle also looks like it could be a fun time as do the new Kirby and Yoshi games. Metroid Prime 4 is welcome too. As for games currently out I am thinking about getting Arms but might wait on it. I'll probably pick up Splatoon 2 next month though.

I never got in to Mario Galaxy either. Agree about Odyssey

Still not available in stores? What's Nintendo's game?

I never see them.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Our Best Buys and Targets get them with some regularity as of late, I'm sure Walmart does too but I can't tell because they hide theirs.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Best Buy yesterday told me they had some in stock (I didn't ask and we weren't talking video games, weird). I asked if it was part of the ARMS release or just regular Sunday stock.
The response? "No, this is stock from last Sunday we held back for some reason." So, don't put all the blame on Nintendo. Just ask somebody. |

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Pokémon and Metroid Prime are coming in 2018!
GamesBeat: For the rest of the year, what’s the big message? Obviously Mario, but is there anything else? Charlie Scibetta: Games. If you want to be able to play games and not have a dry spell between any of the big launches, we think Nintendo Switch is a good place to be. We have a nice drumbeat of first and third party. You’ll never have to wait long. Just as you get through a game and you’re starting to put your head up, put the periscope out to see what else is out there, hopefully we’ll have something right there for you. We’ve announced a nice lineup through this year, and next year we have some big games coming with Metroid 4. 2018 will be around Metroid, Kirby, Yoshi, new Pokemon game has been announced. We feel good about the lineup for this year and beyond. |
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Scored an open-box extra dock from Best Buy for $70. Good way to save $20! :)

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Is that the dock that comes with the proprietary cords? Maybe it's one of those docks that scratches your screens though, returned by someone who's unscrupulous.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Yeah there were lots of early reports of screen scratches, apparently because some of the docks were a little warped. If you have a screen protector, no worries, though.
What stinks is that you can't just plug in a regular HDMI cable and make a dock work, you need their cord. |

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
...yeah, what? It's a standard HDMI cable, standard USB -> USB C, and Power Cord plug.
|
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Ah, apologies, I meant the charger, without which you can't output video to the TV.

After getting the Switch, TLoZ:BotW, ARMs, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the carrying case, the yellow joy-cons, the screen protector and the extra dock... I'm done for awhile. ;) |
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I'd love to hear what you think about ARMS when you've had time to give it a shot! I think I might be the only other person here with a copy, although I haven't sunk all that much time into it yet.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Snake Pass is $11.99 in the eShop right now thru the 4th of July.

I have a 13yo son, 11yo daughter, and 8yo son that play it constantly and believe or not, my daughter hands us our rear ends when she plays. The controls are very intuitive (the double joy-con "thumbs up" way is the best) but we've been playing 4 player games with the single joy-con. I played it at PAXsouth in january and fell in love with it. Once I get the hang of adding friends, I'll shoot you a message. |
