Never played Luigi’s Mansion and I still have to finish the Origami King. But I’ll probably get both.

Here you all are excited about Princess Peach and I just paid 45 bucks for all 9 volumes of Picross E just released for the Switch as Picross S+. E9 was never released in the U.S. Jupiter is the best picross maker bar none, I played all 8 released. 300 puzzles per volume. They give you an extra 70 if you buy them all.

I still have to finish the OG game…

Some good stuff among the announced indie games - a little bit of something for everyone.

My kids and I are mostly excited about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate game coming in July. Looks like Hades mixed with TMNT.

I didn't see local co-op at least in the initial video though... that would be kind of a bummer if they didn't have it.

Didn't know this before, but it's been on Apple Arcade for awhile. It's making its way to consoles starting with the Switch.

Yeah, it's the Apple Arcade game which would explain why there's no couch co-op. Pretty sure I gave it a try when it first came out.

Are we sure it doesn't have couch co-op or was that just not mentioned in the video. That would be absolutely tragic if it didn't have it and a total misstep for a TMNT turtles game released on the Switch.

I would be very surprised if it did. They don't add features to mobile games when they put them on a console. It's most likely a straight port.

Wow. The physical release is really tempting for all the bonuses. But $60? Looking at the commercial I thought it was another freebie for subscribers.

I’m a sucker and had to get the physical copy. Just a cool novelty item if nothing else.

I can’t believe they want $30 for the digital version. Race to grab the first mushroom? Race to the door? Who would play that for more than a couple of minutes? Even for Nintendo that’s an embarrassing cash grab.

I think it’s just the novelty factor more than anything. To me all the little trinkets in the physical set are cool and what sold me on buying it. Too bad the cartridge isn’t functional in some way but it’ll be cool to display.

The game itself is a cash grab but it also might be one of the final first party games Nintendo does for the Switch since the console is probably going to be replaced fairly soon. I’m sure I’ll play it for a bit at least and have fun with it for what it is.

Seriously. And isn't it just NES games? So it's just a collections of 10 second parts of NES games? I really don't understand it. The commercial was very cool but it looks like it would have been perfect as another Switch Online exclusive multiplayer game. Personally I would rather pay $30 if they would bring back Mario 99.

I've seen some comparisons of "Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition" to the "NES Remix" Wii U games. Those had the same mini challenges, and NES Remix 2 even had a "Championship Mode" which was also inspired by the original Nintendo World Championship.

This Switch game seems a bit of a reduction. It has about half as many games as the combined NES Remix games, and it's missing the whole "remix" component.

Nintendo just acquired Shiver (formerly owned by Embracer), a small studio that specializes in ports. The Switch editions of Hogwart’s Legacy and MK11 are a couple recent examples of their work.

This is remarkable because Nintendo very rarely acquires studios — their two most recent gaming acquisitions were Next Level in 2021 and Monolith in 2007 (!). Yes, they went almost 15 years between acquisitions, at least in this space. Interestingly, Nintendo seems to plan for Shiver to conduct business as usual, taking commissions for ports that may or may not involve Nintendo hardware.

That is interesting, I guess Nintendo is serious about Switch 2 being something of a competitor for multi-platform.
