I'll say this: I got Mario Super Aces or whatever the hell that tennis game is when it was down to like $55.99 CA on like Black Friday. I was surprised that I enjoyed it so much (I like it much, much more than that soccer game, which, thankfully, I downloaded that demo and didn't waste my money on the full version). That said, I'm trying to unlock more "courts" (or whatever) and the Adventure Mode features something called a "Reflection Room"....which is essentially a room of mirrors and you have to beat it before going any further. Well? I've watched numerous YouTube videos that "claim" to show you how to beat it...And? This is the most frustrating level of any game I've ever played. I almost threw my Switch against the wall. This is such asinine level design I am disgusted. Nintendo, as much as I try and defend them, are a joke. This underpowered system with an incredible lack of games (where's the new F-Zero? the new Wave Race? a new 1080 Snowboarding game? Maybe more than one genuine Mario game per system generation?)...It's crap like this that just makes me want to return to my PlayStation and just quit with Nintendo. Rant over.

Point is: Do NOT buy Mario Tennis. It's a waste of money...

I will end with this CAVEAT: I did also purchase the Duke Nukem Anniversary Game and I did actually enjoy that one. The controls were pretty good (the Switch controls for FPS games can really be hit or miss, oftentimes with some weird delays so you just can't shoot accurately at all), and it did bring me back to when I originally played it as a kid. It's a bit harder than I remember, but not overly so. I've died many times but just respawned and usually am able to beat the difficult parts after a few attempts. It doesn't make me want to blow something up like Mario Tennis does...And I'm pretty sure I got it on sale for some crazy price like $10...And I think, in that case, that was worth it...

I mean we got a new Zelda, a new Mario, a new Animal Crossing, a new 2d style Metroid, a new Splatoon, a bunch of Kirby games, a few new Pokemon games including Arceus which was a departure for the series, and a bunch of stuff like Mario Kart, Luigi's Mansion, Splatoon 2 and Super Smash Ultimate that were (eventually) way more than just slapping on a fresh coat of paint. I don't think you can fault their 1st party lineup when compared, to, say, Microsoft's.

Mario Tennis Aces solo adventure mode is passable entertainment but its real value lies in the online matches against other people in doubles and singles. Tons of fun playing against other humans with a full ranking system. Possible bias - I'm literally one of the world's highest ranked Mario Tennis Aces players.

The adventure mode is mostly a cute waste of time, Camelot didn't put a lot of thought into it. I never even completed it and that didn't stop me from learning the game. But the play mechanics are rock solid with real depth and they buffed the characters enough so play was mostly balanced no matter who you picked. Which is why the online play was once very popular.

A lot of the best Switch games are just Wii U games, so I do understand the opinion that there isn't enough content. They didn't even discount the games that were released on the Wii U. Since the Wii U was such a flop, they could present Zelda, Mario Kart, Donkey Kong and others as new games, which they hardly weren't.
I do understand that Nintendo didn't want to waste a slate of good games on a console nobody bought, but selling them full price is just greedy.

A couple years late but my fiancée got me Nickelodeon All Star Brawl for Christmas as I’ve been eyeing it for a while. Kind of a fun fighter. I only wish there were more characters.

The roster is decent sized but most of the featured cartoons only have one character and some aren’t represented at all. Still a fun game for what it is and I enjoy a good fighting game.

It’s a fun game. Garfield’s pie throwing can’t be beat. I can just spam it and win fights.

:lol: Yep, Garfield is probably my favorite character to play as so far. Like I say I wish some more characters were in the game.

For instance the TMNT are represented by Leonardo, Michelangelo, April, and Shredder, but yet Donatello and Raphael are missing. Also some cartoons aren’t represented much (Rugrats or Hey Arnold for instance) or at all.

I'm trying the reflection room again and that site definitely looks like it'll help...Still don't subscribe to Nintendo Online, but might this year just to play some online matches...Still bugging a roommate to get a Switch so we can play some games on LAN, but we'll see if he does...

I really appreciate the the head's up, as I looked at several YouTube videos and that level was just driving me crazy...I only wanna beat it so I can unlock all of the stages, even though ultimately the stages are pretty much just cosmetic...

Hey a summary would be useful. ;)

Basically there was an exploit with online play in 1st party Nintendo games where just playing online with someone could have them take over your console and get access to sensitive data. However I saw no signs of them being able to view your password so I have no idea what changing your password will do. They’ve been patching games but this goes back to Nintendo ds and Wii U titles as well (fun fact there are only two first party online Wii U titles).

Back in 2020 they actually had a major breach because of the dumb way they had these legacy accounts and everyone should have turned on 2FA then. If you didn’t then then you should do so now.

The design is neat, but the placement is... odd. It's behind the couch. They're shown playing from a chair on the other side of the coffee table, facing the couch, which seems far away. Maybe that's partly due to the wide angle lens used to get the full system in the shot, but the screen looks tiny from where they're playing. Then there's the idea that he has 4 controller setups for all the systems, but where would 4 people sit to play this? All of them in chairs facing the couch? Some sitting on the couch, twisting to look backwards?

I saw this on another forum, and someone said that the person has a regular TV/home theater setup on the opposite wall the couch is facing. So it seems like this setup is more of a novelty/conversation piece that they probably show off and then play for 15-20 minutes everytime someone comes over, rather than a setup for serious long gaming sessions.

It's certainly a novelty, but I can see them having the couch setup for watching stuff on a bigger tv with this just dedicated to shorter gaming sessions. My kids would mess that thing up in a day though.

Well, this guy seems big on style over substance. The Walkman coffee table is pretty prominent in the video, but if you look to the left edge of the image, you can see what looks like a giant set of headphones.

Like, if there really is another TV/home theater setup in the room that the couch is facing, then it seems like the "Switch" would've been better served being in a different room where it could be the focus, like a family room or play room. Or, they could've built something easy to access and use the older consoles into their main home theater setup, but that maybe wouldn't have ended up looking like a switch for various reasons (bigger screen, maybe speakers to the sides of the TV, etc).

This just seems like it's primarily a display piece that happens to function.

Upgraded my Switch Online account for the N64 and Genesis access in preparation for GoldenEye. Started playing Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. Hadn’t ever played it and it’s a pretty fun Kirby game.

Man I’m not very good at GoldenEye. It’s been a long time since I’ve really played it and also the controls don’t help matters. Couldn’t clear the first level on a few tries. I’ll play some more over the weekend and hopefully get a bit better.

When I saw you posted that it’s out I had to try it out right now. The controls on the pro switch controller are awful. Then I downloaded it on Xbox, which has modern controls, mainly that the right stick is the camera and the left stick lets you move fluidly. I don’t know how the hell we all managed back then.
