Nintendo sent me a refurbished Switch. Downside is we lost our entire Animal Crossing island, but all my other game saves were in the cloud thanks to NSO.

good thing, too, is that my daughter and wife wanted to start over in AC anyway... Though I think they're going to regret it once they realize they have no bells.

So, anyone else playing Pac-Man 99? Pretty fun. Still trying to get my first #1. I've topped out at #2 and top 5 numerous times.

Alright, I've been playing for the last hour and a half and come to the realization that the JoyCon sucks balls for Pac-Man if you want to be remotely competitive. Seems like 90% of my losses are of my own failing, missing a turn because of the stupid button D-pad instead of being outright defeated.

Should I grab the retro NES or SNES pads? Or just go with the Pro Controller? Anyone use the PowerA pro controllers?

Ended up just grabbing a official Nintendo Pro controller. It's better but Pac-Man still doesn't control quite right for me. I went back to Championship Edition to see if I was just rusty. Nope. Totally kicked ass. So I don't think the controls in PM99 are as tight as some of the other games.

I’ve tried a few rounds of Pac-Man 99 and I can survive a while just by brute survival but I have no idea what the strategy is supposed to be.

Hang out near a power pellet. Wait until a ghost comes near you, eat it, and move near another power pellet.

Keep doing that until you’re the last one left.

Other than the run and hide method majorjoe said, the goal is still to clear the board.

• Clear the map(all the tiny dots before eating the fruit, power pellets don't count) and you level up your speed.
• Eat all the tiny white ghosts to create a ghost chain (max length is 32) then chomp a power pellet and eat away at your ghost chain. Each ghost you eat sends a Jammer (white Pac-Man) to one of the other 98 players.
• Jammers slow Pac-Man down. Eating a power pellet gets rid of the Jammers.
• You can set your attack method on the right side of the screen. Knockout sends them to someone close to dying, Counter sends them to someone that is sending them to you, Random is self explanatory, and Hunter targets people with the most badges
• You can set your power on the left side of the screen. Standard = no frills, speed increases Pac-Man's speed, Stronger makes the Jammers you send more powerful, Train adds extra ghosts to your ghost chain.

Once you crack the top 50 red Jammers start popping up. Those are an instant death if you touch them. Eating a power pellet stops them in their tracks. Eating fruit will clear them off your screen. Once these start popping up, clearing maps becomes very difficult. It's basically survival at that point so try and level up early.

Pac-Man 99 is pretty fun. I’m not that great at it, but I enjoy it. I’ve only played a couple rounds though so I haven’t practiced a bunch.

I can't get past 50th place. I'm slowly ranking up but I just get to a point where I don't see a ghost because of jammers and I run right into it.

I tried again this afternoon and got as high as 29th place and then lost my groove. Just keep resetting with the fruit to get the ghost tails and keep hammering those clusters.

Been playing for about an hour+ with my daughter. I have no problems hitting the top 10, but my daughter thinks it's a riot that I keep coming in in 2nd. I just can't close in on my first #1. I keep getting laughed at. She's not a good cheerleader.

Try using Train and Counter fellas. Train fills your ghost train faster and counter sends the jammers to whomever is attacking you(it's a good defensive style). I've been rolling with that combo tonight and I'm killing it on the knockouts. More knockouts mean more badges and more badges mean.... not sure. But you get fragments of a badge when you knock someone out, plus you gain whatever fragments they had.

• Badge 1 = 2 fragments
• Badge 2 = 4 fragments
• Badge 3 = 8 fragments
• Badge 4 = 16 fragments

People are divided on the benefits or what the badges do in the game. Some think it allows you to send more Jammers, some think they act as a shield. Maybe both? Either way, the more badges you have means you are the target of anyone that picks "Hunter." So the better you are the bigger target you become.

Also work on clearing the map before eating the fruit as it makes you faster, as noted by your speed on the left side of the screen. Your speed starts at 0. At least work on the first 2 maps anyway.

Wow, the highest I've placed is 29th. I was playing last night and kept hitting in the 30s.

I'll try the train and counter next time. Still not sure how I keep ranking up.

My highest rank so far is 34. I’ve only played thirteen games so far. Fun game and pretty addicting. Makes up somewhat for the loss of Super Mario Bros. 35.

OK, I used train/counter and was able to peak at 20th, with consistent finishes in the 20s. I think I need to play on the big screen instead of my Lite because I keep getting hit by Inky hiding in clusters of jammers and it's hard to see on the small screen.

I played Pac-Man 99 for the first time for about an hour. Highest I got was 5th but averaged in top 20. Definitely recommend going in to setting and switching from d-pad to the stick.

Demo for Miitopia is up now. I really didn't know much about this when it was on the 3DS but looking at reviews actually seems to be a solid RPG. I played about 15 minutes of the demo and enjoyed it so I'll definitely pick it up.
