I love custom joycons. But I still can't believe they haven't redesigned the damned things.

Skyward Sword needs some graphical improvements.

My daughter is going to be so excited when I show her this. Something Splatoon related? Doesn't even matter what it is (but please be 3)

edited to add: yes.

The scream you just heard was my kids seeing the announcement of Splatoon 3.

That's 30 years, we could see Luke, Ahsoka, Ben Solo or Kylo Ren. Heck, maybe we find out what happens to
Spoiler:
Ezra Bridger

I said the same thing. But it looks cool. Like the art style. Is this the same studio as Octopath?

I was surprised how rough it looked. For a second I was wondering if there was some Nintendo 64 Zelda I had forgotten about.

I’ll probably pick up the remastered version of Skyward Sword eventually. Otherwise not much in this Direct that excites me. Mario Golf Super Rush might be fun. The special Zelda Joy Cons are cool too.

Solid Direct in my opinion. All the stuff I'm interested in (Mario Golf, Skyward Sword, Project Triangle Strategy, Famicom Detective Club, World's End Club, Age of Calamity Expansion)

Yeah, that looked rough and angular. And, natch, they're asking $59.99 for that barely-remastered 10 year old game.

Not interested in anything mentioned in the Direct, even if they weren't charging a ridiculous $60 for fucking decade-old ports. Fucking pathetic.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

The look of Skyward Sword was rough especially since the previous Zelda HD remasters (Twilight Princess & Wind Waker) both looked amazing (and were older games). I'm still super excited to play it since it came out at a time when I was over the Wii so never gave it a shot.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

I think the name Project Triangle Strategy is just bizarre enough that it will gain a community before release and Nintendo won’t dare change the name because of how embedded it’s become.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

I didn't realize that Wind Waker was remastered for the WiiU (I assume). I would have liked to play that game.
Have zero-interest in motion controls (besides the cute Japanese Taiko Drum game that's an insanely cheap $14.99 right now).

And using the R stick as an alternative doesn't sound great or intuitive either.

Wouldn't be the first terrible working title that stuck.

Yup, they even coined a term for it (HD-2d or something like that) to refer to it and Octopath.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

I don’t think Skyward Sword looks as bad as most here, but it could use some polish if it’s being pushed as an HD remaster.

This does not look like a full-priced remastered game to me in 2021

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

Thought it was a great Direct that heavily implied that a bigger one will happen later this year giving more info on BOTW 2 and probably the heavy hitters for fall and winter. Skyward Sword and Mario Golf are day one purchases for me. Not sure what folks are talking about the graphics of SS, they look great to me.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

For SS: I think it looks like a fine port, the issue I think many have is the price. It's not a fully remastered port the way we would normally expect one to be (or if it is it certainly isn't pretty). If it was 40 bucks or something like that I think more people would be fine with it.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

I’m just saying I don’t think it looks as bad as people are saying. Obviously graphics have improved since it’s initial release, but it doesn’t look ancient or something. Certainly calling it N64 graphics is an exaggeration.

Agreed that it shouldn’t be a full $60 game, but it’s Nintendo and you know they’re not going to charge less. You either accept that or you don’t.
