Yeah, could be. Either way, the setup is trash and because of it I won't be able to trade in my current until I have the Lite in hand. Hell, people can't even trade in their current to go towards the Lite on launch day unless places like GS let you do the transfer process in store?

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

I'm pretty sure Gamestops will let you transfer saves right there, the main question is whether the trade in value for the older consoles will drop now that the newer versions with better battery life are out.

I'm still hoping they come up with a streamlined, easier transfer system before the Lite comes out, because if not I'll probably cancel my preorder.

Had no idea this was coming out. It's only going to be available digitally, however. Also available for Steam:

What's the difference in battery life on the new consoles?

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

It went from 2.5-6.5 to 4.5-9.0.

I think if anything I’ll keep my current Switch and might consider a Lite at some point. More battery life would be nice, but I want to keep my original because it’s the first console/handheld I bought that I waited in line opening night for so I’m kinda sentimental towards it.

I may have to get a Switch this Fall if there are any good Black Friday deals. I'm really interested in playing Fire Emblem: Three Houses after hearing all the great reviews. I would also like to play Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey.

So if I'm reading this correctly, we can get the newer model of the Switch for about $75 at your Gamestop. Remember to transfer your saves.

Has anyone confirmed that GS will let you do all the save transfers while in store during the transaction?

I can't imagine they wouldn't. I might jump on this. Would be nice to have a fresh battery for my Hawaii trip coming up in a few months.

I think the main caveat is that they need to be connected to the internet, not sure if they'll spend the time to configure that for you there and doing it through a hotspot may not be ideal.

Doing trade in on Switch at GameStop now. Guy is cool and letting me do data transfer in store. Pretty painless.

Taking a Hawaii trip in a few months with family so that is why I did Switch swap. Amy suggestions on 2 player games that would be fun/easy for the flight? Was thinking the side scrolling Mario game or maybe Mario party?

Depending on genre, the ones you mentioned, Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Cuphead, Puyopuyo (either tetris or champions), snipperclips, if you like retro the Genesis or SNK collections, etc.

Yes!

One of my former students recommended this game to me a bit ago. Bought it on Steam. Loved it.

FWIW the sequel is coming soon to PC and Xbox One.

That might be a better use of funds unless you really want to play the original on the Switch

I couldn't find a thread on it, but here's a look at Gameplay from The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening for the Switch.

That’s an awesome and unexpected announcement. I suppose with the films coming out this year but I’d have never guessed those would get remastered.

Yeah Aladdin is one of my favorite old school platformers. It's fun.

Also cool that it has both SNES and Genesis versions since they are very different. I much prefer the SNES version of Aladdin but I know a lot of people like the Genesis one.
