I just realized that with the exception of Kirby's Adventures ($20 on ebay) I actually already have every cart of the games on this system. Why am I buying this again, lol?

Swung by a TRU at opening and a Gamestop 30 minutes before opening - no luck. I'm getting too old to run all over town chasing these things. I either get it at Amazon this afternoon, or I wait until they are readily available online or in store.

This is why the idea that it would be everywhere seemed funny to me. I imagine it will be rough to find for the rest of the year.
I've seen a few "guides" on what various stores are doing for sales and where to buy it.

I used it to place an order for a Classic NES Console from ToysRUs.com a few minutes ago.

I stood in line for three hours at GameStop this morning to get one. They only received eleven and I was number three. They had only two extra controllers and the two guys in front of me bought them. There was a massive line by ten and the people who didn't get one were pissed.
They should have known better than arrive at the store's opening and think they were going to waltz in and buy one.

Went to BB this morning before opening and there were thirty people inline. Realizing it's a Nintendo product and the probably only had ten of them I left. Then I found out they really got forty in and if I stayed in line I would have got one. Oops.
Also looking at the secondary market prices this is why I will always say that resellers are the scum of the earth.

It is. Otherwise, there would've been plenty of supply right out of the gate.
Who the fuck else BUT nerds are lining up at midnight to buy this? Nintendo (mistakenly) assumed it would be an impulse purchase type toy.
The whole reason it's hard to find is precisely this; that N's plan for it didn't meet with actual public demand.
Keep your to yourself, I was right. I never suggested that Nintendo was doing the smart thing to position this as a toy. Just another fuck-up on their part in a long line of such actions.
and only nerds would want to buy it.

Is this going to be a "lightning deal" on Amazon or just keep refreshing on the product page to see if you can get one? I've looked at the video game deals and didn't see it.

Well I'll take my shot at Amazon later but outside of that, no biggie. I have plenty of unplayed games and if I really feel the need to play something Nintendo I will go with my unplayed Twilight Princess remaster.

I just checked eBay. There are several sold auctions with the item going for excess of $200. I have to say, it's not worth it to have this maybe 2-3 weeks early. These people must really have Triforce Fever BAD.

This. People can say Nintendo screwed up all they want but they're going to be selling out these things for a while, and when you look at what it is and how they cut corners and still have insane demand, I'd say they know exactly what they're doing. Like amiibos, I doubt half these people would even want this thing if it was readily available.

There's no guarantee that if these were as numerous as, say, the (inferior) Sega Genesis retro machine that they would sell out. Just like there's no guarantee that if they upped the cost to add a controller or longer cords or whatever that they would make more money. Nintendo makes a lot of dumb decisions but they seem to be doing fine making their stuff in demand, at least early on.

the only group this shortage helping are the bottom feeders on slickdeals. there are 600+ on eBay right now, some finishing at over $200 already.
blame stupid, impatient folks for eBay, but there's an artificial demand being created by a small group snapping up the supply online and forcing people to go through alternate channels.

How are they leaving money on the table? Look at amiibos, as soon as they became readily available and not so in demand, they started shelf warming with the rest of the toys to life stuff. From Cabbage Patch Kids and Tickle Me Elmo, it's been a marketing strategy around Xmas to have hot in demand items due to shortages, and this way they sell everything they make.
