Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (11/15/2019: PC, PS4, XB1)
...led by Stig Asmussen of God of War fame. From the horse's mouth:
At EA right now, we have multiple studios building a variety of great Star Wars games spanning different genres. We are all united by our teams’ passion for Star Wars™ stories, characters, and adventures. Today, I’m thrilled to be able to announce that EA and the talented team at Respawn Entertainment have expanded our relationship to include the development of an all-new 3rd person action adventure game set in the Star Wars universe. They join our other great studios – Visceral Games, DICE, Capital Games, BioWare, Motive and more – who are currently working on Star Wars projects. If you’re interested in joining us on this adventure, you can visit our Careers page – we have openings at Visceral and Motive and will be sharing more on these experiences soon. Over the past few years, I’ve had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with Vince Zampella and his group. Their obsession with making games that feel amazing has helped make Titanfall one of the most successful new game launches of this generation. And now, with a new team led by Stig Asmussen, we get to see what they can do when you combine that great attention to gameplay with the power of Star Wars. There’s never been a better time to be a Star Wars fan. The passion we’re seeing for Star Wars from gamers – whether they’ve been along for the ride since Star Wars™: Episode IV: A New Hope™, or were introduced to the magic of Star Wars with Star Wars™: The Force Awakens™ – is fueling our development teams and our partners to create unique interactive extensions of this deep, meaningful universe. As a game maker, nothing is more exciting. Thank you and May the Fourth be with you, Patrick |
re: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (11/15/2019: PC, PS4, XB1)
I'm looking forward to what else Respawn can do with Star Wars. Outside of Bioware, i'm probably the most interesting in what they can do.

re: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (11/15/2019: PC, PS4, XB1)
So this came out of an earnings call for EA:
They also revealed that developer Respawn’s upcoming action title based in the “Star Wars” universe will hit late 2019/early 2020 which suggests it will take the slot “Star Wars Battlefield 3” would have taken if the sequel had been a success. |
re: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (11/15/2019: PC, PS4, XB1)
I would not be surprised if BattleFRONT3 (why did they say Battlefield?) isn't a real thing. How much more could they add in terms of ingenuity short of new maps and skins? We could get that with DLC. Hopefully Respawn doesn't given us some half-assed game like The Force Unleashed... I'd really like to see a KOTOR type game.

re: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (11/15/2019: PC, PS4, XB1)
Great studio. I'm glad to see it's not being cannibalized by other EA offshoots. It's still a shame that Titanfall 2 got sent out to die. It had a great campaign and very solid MP.

Might as well bump this thread up to make it the official one. Here's 13 mins of gameplay just released

re: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (11/15/2019: PC, PS4, XB1)
Looks good. Thoughts: I guess Respawn really likes their wall running mechanic. Looks like the early comparisons to Dark Souls combat we’re pretty accurate. I hope the powers are more more varied than push/pull/stasis. The healing animation is great. |
re: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (11/15/2019: PC, PS4, XB1)
Yeah the first minute, reminded me of Titanfall 2 story mode. Looks real good.

re: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (11/15/2019: PC, PS4, XB1)
They have the look, sound and music down....The Lightsaber is dead on. I'm glad they've gone back to a central character and story. Combat & Powers were really good....in the immortal words of Darth....'Impressive...quite impressive"

re: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (11/15/2019: PC, PS4, XB1)
that looked damn good right? i have the last one SW game that came out, Battlefront 2, i think, (haven't played through yet) but this looks like all the SW goodness with some Prince of Persia like gameplay. i'm ordering. i'll be damned if they don't come out with a great SW game we've (me) have longed for. this could be it...

Re: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (11/15/2019: PC, PS4, XB1)
On paper, this is checking all the right boxes (combat, exploration, etc.), and I like pretty much everything I've seen so far, but I'm trying to stay cautious about getting too carried away. Too many games show really well in trailers and demos, but end up shitting the bed once released.

Re: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (11/15/2019: PC, PS4, XB1)
It's been really quite with the game and yesterday a new trailer was released...have to say this really does look good....

Re: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (11/15/2019: PC, PS4, XB1)
I don’t know what it is about this game, but I don’t find the graphics terribly impressive. Maybe it’s the animation style but it feels like it could look better (the characters especially). Gameplay looks good though and the storyline should be good. |
Re: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (11/15/2019: PC, PS4, XB1)
I'm the same way. Nothing that I've seen of this game excites me, and I love just about everything Respawn has done.

Re: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (11/15/2019: PC, PS4, XB1)
The main character reminds me of Rusty from National Lampoon's European Vacation.

Re: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (11/15/2019: PC, PS4, XB1)
I think it looks fantastic. Love the slightly more cartoony style instead of ultra realistic.

Re: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (11/15/2019: PC, PS4, XB1)
I liked it from first trailer. I dropped the latest (SW: Battleground 2 or whatever for one reason or another. Liked it, but since the first trailer I saw of this, it looks like the Star Wars game I always wanted to play...

Re: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (11/15/2019: PC, PS4, XB1)
No multi-player... I don't know if that is new news or I missed it from the get-go. Either way, I'm disappointed. I hope the game brings enough to the table to keep it engaging for 20+ hours.
|
Re: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (11/15/2019: PC, PS4, XB1)
I hardly ever do multi-player, so this sounds right up my alley.

Re: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (11/15/2019: PC, PS4, XB1)
I for one am glad that Respawn focused this Star Wars game on single player...there's countless other MP & PvP games out there dime-a-dozen including Apex Legends from Respawn....and a lot out there it seems are also perfectly happy with finally getting a SP Base Game after getting SW Battlefront I & II...shades of Jedi Knight: Outcast......
...but who knows what they might end up doing...heck they added a sort of Horde/Defend Mode in Titanfall II that's just fun as heck to play. I wouldn't mind seeing something like that or maybe a 2 Player Co-op mode with some small missions. But PvP...nope....there was Battlefront 1 & 2 and now there is Apex, COD, Destiny, Overwatch, Ghost Recon, Red Dead, The Division 2, Fortnight and of course Fallout 76 which everyone knows just how great that PvP w/PvE mix worked out.... |

Re: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (11/15/2019: PC, PS4, XB1)
I've been thinking about this and may go for it. It's been listed for a $50 preorder at Amazon forever and I may preorder to keep that price, thinking it could easily pop up to that basic $60 soon. Then again, Borderlands 3 is already down to $45 and I've been waiting there. I dunno. Good reads on those articles, though.

Re: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (11/15/2019: PC, PS4, XB1)
Give me a game with a strong single player campaign over multiplayer any day. Might order this as well. |
Re: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (11/15/2019: PC, PS4, XB1)
Sounds good to me, I pre-ordered with all this info.

Re: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (11/15/2019: PC, PS4, XB1)
I was just thinking about passing on this as I haven't really even started Borderlands yet, but I need to roll my Best Buy BL3 $10 credit into something(plus i need to take advantage of my last few months of GCU). Then get another $10 for Jedi and roll that into Cyberpunk.

And add another positive Preview into the mix from IGN.....https://www.ign.com/articles/2019/10...-final-preview …..so far from what I've read into these previews, they are surprised byt the amount depth the game has to offer even with just a 3 hour demo...basically all saying the game has a lot more to offer than originally thought. |

Going gold means you can rest assured it won’t be delayed any longer.
